Trip
Name : Steve Dredge 501st ID : 10450 MEPD Forum Name : DStig Garrison : UK Garrison After a while of getting my TD adapted from my EIB level TK and cleared with the 501st, I decided to apply for PO clearance with the MEPD. I created a thread a while back about screws in the chest plate, and needed to adapt mine as there wasn't enough of a return edge on the underside of the chest plate to accommodate the 6 screws. This has (hopefully) been rectified as the chest plate now has the required screws. The weathering was done using Raw Umber acrylic paint and the sponge on/rag off method. I tried to maintain quite a heavy weathering, but not TOO much (sandy, not swampy...). The weathering hasn't been sealed yet, so it can be easily be adjusted. Hausi
Hi Steve and welcome to the sandpit! I like your weathering and most things look on spot! Don't forget to show some detail pics of the six side rivets on the left side, the backside of the male snap on the right side of your abdomen and the rivet in the codpiece as well as the two snaps in the butt area. Did you notice that the little plate with the three buttons is almost falling off? One thing that will be an issue though are the shoulder straps, they should be white elastic (weathered) with a sew-on snap at the bottom, also use some white thread to sew it on. Your DLT-19 looks ace. Way to go and good luck with your review!
Trip
Yeah the button strip has been the bane of rhis build - it just refuses to stay put. Drastic measures are needed. The detail pic of the rivets will be done. I admit I totally forgot about then. I *THINK* I have some from when I went for basic 501st clearance. As for the shoulder straps I thought it was nylon webbing OR white elastic? That's easily sorted though (if I can win the battle with the chest plate return, changing a bit of materiel won't be too much of a hassle.....) Thanks for your feedback dude. Hausi
Yeah, good work on creating that return edge, changing those shoulder straps will be a piece of cake then! This is what it says in the crls: For level two certification (if applicable): No ribbed shoulder straps are present. Shoulder straps shall be white elastic waistband material. Also have a look at the other PO applications.

Got the photos of the fasteners sorted. The elastic for the shoukder straps is being sourced later. Does the elastic required need to be the same worth as the nylon webbing currently in use? Many thanks.
DarthStevius
Have you tried some simple superglue on the button strip. You'll never need to re-do it so should be safe. Otherwise some e6000. For me, you may need to touch up some of the weathering little too bro! Looks a little brushed and mono-tone in places. A lighter colour to contrast it maybe and some dabbing rather than wiping on some of those more obvious places. great looking kit and weapon though Steve, good luck. I sanded the back of the buttons and the nodule it's attached to remove any old glue residue and restuck it and left it overnight with stromg rare earth magnets AND a hefty weight on it. Seems ok (so far) I think there may have been some old glue left over from the TK buttons that gave it an uneven surface. Trip
That's awesome. Thanks so much for being so prompt. I have some 2" elastic and fasteners being delivered tomorrow so soon as they're here, I'll sort it out, weather it and post the pics. Cheers for that. Trip
OK so the elastic arrived on time and I sewed on the snap fasteners. I put them slightly forward from the centre point so it'd bring the shoulder bells slightly forward. The ends were attached to the back and chest plate with poppers, then they were lightly weathered. The issue with the ab buttons has been resolved and it ain't going anywhere now (hopefully.......)So there we go. Hopefully all sorted. Hope that's to your likingSent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
