jcalus
Hello all, I'm Jon/ TD84414 and I'm going for swat.. So far so good, but during my review there was a pouch problem.. I had the wrong one. I thought it was a Spanish pouch but it turns out it was French, so I made myself one. Here are some pics Cut the leather on a 45, glued it, and then box stitched it together. The stain I learned about on-line from a British leather smith is vinegar mixed with rusty metal. Any rustable iron/steel will work, but if it's rusty it will be ready sooner. My brew is some rusty tie wire, steel wool, chunk of rusted can, and black sand left over from gold sluicing. Just rub it on and the leather goes black.. may take a couple of coats. I used a thinner leather for the front strap but it wasn't the same colour so it was replaced with thinker stuff. Then bcz I assumed the original pouches would have been weather treated some way, I gave it a nice, but not too nice, of a black polish job. But my question is this.. in my review, it was pointed out the large Spanish pouch has some sort of crease or seam on it. But after looking around it doesn't seem to be on any other pouches I can find. Any ideas on what it could be, of best replications of it? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. BadBatch
You can compare yours against one of the original pouches in this thread

dutchy
This might be an overkill of information but here's a picture of all the spanish pouches together. 1
jcalus
You can compare yours against one of the original pouches in this thread Yes for sure. That's where I started, and used the measurements from iconoclasta_88 for my build. Just not sure what that extra seam is.Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Looking at a zoom-in on the inside of the flap it appears that the "folded" parts of the flap (meaning the front and both sides) are a separate piece from the actual top of the pouch That, or they just seamed the front as it was faster and easier to run the stitch across all three sides than it was to make two separate sets of stitches. Hard to say, really.
jcalus
Ya. Some have that front seam on the lid, and others don't. I did it to match the one from the pic you posted. Thanks !Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
