I can only spot maybe your left shoulder bell and some spots on your inner right thigh that may need some weathering adjustment but that's a given you'll never see someone pass first time go.

Thanks for the eyes! Think I can get to those tonight.

  • 2 weeks later...

Looks good as far as I can see.

The only thing that I'm not completely sure about is your ammopouch.

In the HD screenpics it looks like the lip of the top cover is inside compared to yours that is outside, plus that the "cover/ lid" of the pouch covers the whole top and looks more squared so to speak.

All in all the make of your pouch seems different to me.  It looks like the big spanish pouch is the way to go for this trooper.

Thanks dutchy. I thought I had a Spanish pouch, but I think your right and now seeing what your seeing.
I've been working with leather lately, and will try to make my own in the next few days.

Hi Jon!

Thank you for your patience! It is so great to see a new potential SWAT candidate submitting his applications for activation.

Your confidence in your gear is definitely commendable.

As all of our candidates are told, this may be a long ongoing process depending on the submission. So please be patient as I give your armor / gear a full inspection and review. Some details may definitely be missed and re-checked but i will try to catch them on every pass given it until you are cleared and ready to join the Special Weapons & Tactics Team, Brother!

Progress report:
Working on the new pouch, but not sure what that inner seam is.. been looking at pics of Spanish pouches and haven't seen any with one.. still have some more work to do on it, so I'll try to figure it out. Or if anyone knows!?.. that would be great.

For the tape on the bicep I used electrical tape. I figure since it was around in 1976, and every electrician I've ever met always has it in their tool pouch. It could have been there for a quick fix on set. And it looks about the right width as well. Along with some dirtier gloves. cfab28b25ca637c837b690b0564fa46b.jpg

Hi Jon,

I intended to reply to your PM but never got to push send after writing it.

The pouch you have is not spanish but french. Some people sell it as spanish by mistake or on purpose but, well, many troopers buy it just to find out it is not approvable.

Good news is your pouch is looking awesome already.

And i got to pull my original large spanish pouch from the storage today... so i got some new pictures. Hope they help.

Let me know if you need any more advice.

Saludos

One more thing.... about elctricians tape.

A few years ago I talked to a gaffer (head electrician in film set) and art directors for film industry, and they agreed that both, plastic electricians tape and gaffer's tape would definetely be present during the shooting of ANH.

Gaffer's tape being thread or paper based and non reflective would be more probable to be used for on-set repairs rsther than electricians plastic tape, since it is reflective. They said most tapes used are non reflective to avoid catching any light, shine or reflect on camera.

Both start in simlar thin widths... gaffer going wider than electricians.

Anyway, we cant prove one thing or the other with references, so as long as it looks the part, it should be accepted.

Saludos.

Thank you, That's some great info! Maybe hockey tape would work... just bcz it's Canada Day..lol
I did notice that the light caught the tape when taking the pic..

And thanks for the pouch pics, great to see references!

Progress report : 2

After a couple of staining coats and black polish, here is the large Spanish pouch.
Still working on what that lower front seam(?) is, and have a thread up in the pouches section asking for input.. and here too.. Thanks.
Nervous to stitch in a seam just to see if it looks right..
