My name is Paul , located in the Tampa Florida area and New (not yet approved) to the 501st. My wife and are currently working a couple WIP’s on the SLD . My current WIP is an ESB Vader that is nearing it’s completion in the next few months after about a year and She is almost done with her ROTJ emperor. With that said I am looking towards my next project which has led me here to begin my research. I have been poking around for a couple of weeks and thought it was at least time to introduce myself.

Not being the tallest Vader in the Legion (6’2” suited up) I wanted to have an alternate and my second love is the Sand Trooper. I also have a 2 ANH TK’s that we picked up from Anovos to get our feet wet on a cheap and easy build. These seemed like an easy kit to start with and I have seen a couple great build threads here and on the white boards

Once started I will post a wip and update my progress as I move along through my build. My ultimate goal is to build a Sand Trooper that rivals the quality of my Vader, Sergeant or Captain Cantina or Road block version, eventually be an officer and then work towards SWAT. At this point I have a few Ideas of where I will start, TK boots, Hyperfirm DLT-19. I was so impressed with the Centurion E-11’s that we bought from them they will be my go to for the next. For the armor I was considering the RS or TM versions. Ay input and suggestions are more than welcome.

Looking forward to participating with the group!

Paul

Good morning everyone, happy may the fourth to you all :). My name is Jason and I'm currently building an am kit and I've reached the point where I have to make that decision by going tk or td.

As you can tell by me posting here I'm clearly leaning towards td because I like the uniqueness of it compared to a tk and LoveMonkey keeps telling me at the troops that I need to come get dirty and play in the sand box haha so here I am.

I have a few other reasons to want to go td as well, just like most of you here, so I won't get into all of them but one of the main reasons is that after spotting for 18 events and seeing a group of tks vs only LoveMonkey, I love how much differently the crowds interact with a td and that you just don't blend into a sea of white.

I have been looking around the forums for a while now and as I was planning on going centurion as a tk it's only fitting to want to go swat here as well. As swat I really like this trooper with the white pauldron "Docking Bay 94 v2".

Hello all,

My name is Chris, and I'm from Philadelphia. I joined the forum about a year ago, but finally have the time and finances (I hope :whistling: ) to pursue SWAT level...and Rebel scum.

I'll gladly accept any advice and assistance on where to get started. I've kinda perused the forum the last day or so, and also joined over at whitearmor.net to be able to do research there.

Feel free to PM me if you have anything to share, especially if you're local to Philly.

Thanks for reading!

Chris

Hello fellow troopers! I just got into the 501st last month as a TIE Fighter Pilot. Well....on to the next costume I suppose. A friend of mine gave me an ABS Stormtrooper costume which he had displayed on a mannequin next to a sunny window. Long story short, it's got some serious yellowing on areas of the armor. I think it's destined to become a Sandtrooper to cover up the yellowing. Besides, Sandtroopers look way cooler than Stormtroopers anyways, agreed?

The costume needs some major love and I'll need some counseling on the assembly. I'm not sure who the maker is as there is no mention in the instruction book (that must mean it's not Rubies...yay!). I attached a couple of pics from the booklet. Can anyone figure out the costume maker? Also, the belt seems a little iffy. It is solid ABS (not leather in the back) and attached to the 'abdominal plate' by screws. The back of the ABS belt wraps around the back and attaches with Velcro (see pic #2). What say the professionals to this? Is it even 501st worthy?

Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks fellow troopers.

-Scott

Hello everyone,

My name is Taylor and I'm so excited to start my Sandie build. I look forward to any advice or tips that I can get in this process. I have TM armor arriving in about a week and I will start a build thread when it gets here. I love how unique and awesome sandies look, and I can't wait to start trooping!

Hye Scott, welcome to the MEPD... Here you will find all the info and advice you need to become a sandtrooper. Yes! We are way cooler than those shiny TKs!

It seems to me that you have some sort of FX armor recast there. It is an older version, but it can be made to meet standards with a few mods.

My first sugestion would be to open a new thread and ppst poctures of your kit to have a better assesment. And my first advice would be to read as much as you can. Ask as manys questions as you need... And read some more. We will help you get where you want to be.

Saludos.

Hi everyone, I'm Tommi from Nordic Garrison (Sweden). Been in the 501st since 2005 with a couple of hiatuses due to parenthood and work... started out as a TIE pilot, have been trooping as ANH Vader a couple of years now... have owned a couple of TK armors and assembled a bunch of helmets for others - figured it's time to troop in white(ish) armor now, Will lurk and learn for a while, can't wait to smell the Dremel cutting away in ABS plastic again... good to be here, guys!

Greetings,

I'm Mike from the Jundland Wastes Squad, Dune Sea Garrison. Nice to meet such a fine group of troopers.

Been converting my TK into a TD since November, and I'm just now posting. Late for roll call, I know. I have a few more adjustments and I'll be ready to deploy as a Sandy. Hoping for some great tips and tricks on how to get approved.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey Everyone, my name is Nathan, I'm 29. I've been on the other forums since 2013 I think. Had the money saved for a TK, but had to spend it marring my wife. Armor got put on hold for a few years. I live in FL and would be apart of Squad 7. Decided to go TD because here in Florida there is already sand everywhere, so it seems only fitting to be a Sandtrooper. I'm a BIM Specialist by trade, I can model and have access to two 3D printers which will hopefully make the blaster builds a little easier. The plan is to have my Armor ready for my 30th birthday in October. A play on the whole Dirty 30 thing.
