BroadSword
Here's where I'm at so far on my kit. I'm not liking the sides and will be redoing the ab/kidney plate rivets when I get more. Let me know what you think:
SWAMPTHING
the drooping belt maybe fixed easily with snaps, I use a snap on each side for my TK but my TD is bolted on.
FIVE
Yeah, I had snaps on my TE2 belt. It was a great way to do it. It's looking good so far though! Have you thought of modding your chest plate so that it's a bit smaller / more accurate? Like this...

I actually do have the two snaps on the sides, I guess I need a third in the center. As to the chest plate, yes, it does need to be trimmed. I think I need a heat sealing iron to make the return edge right? That part makes me a bit nervous. Seems like it could go really wrong if I mess it up. FIVE
Yeah... a crafting heat iron is what I'd suggest. Take it slowly and it's fine! You'll do great. It's always scarier to think about it than it is to actually do it. Haha
BroadSword
Is there an actual measurement from the bottom of the "pecs" to the apex of the bottom edge curve??
FIVE
Someone could measure it I'm sure, but it'd be different on the FX (that is the kit you have, right?) I actually think there's a thread on here about modding it.... or on the FISD.... Here's one good reference... And here's Pandatrooper's modding an AM kit — I'd say it's good reference for cutting an FX as they're both too big. Finally one more on creating the return edge. Like I said it's scarier to think about it than it is to do it.
SWAMPTHING
I put three snaps on my belt but ended up not using the front middle one.
BroadSword
I haven't had a chance to pick up a hobby iron to re-do the chest plate, but I got a neckseal, boots and a DLT-19 since my last post. I got some weathering done as well.
BroadSword
Feedback? Thoughts? I'm going to trim up the chest plate as soon as I can get access to a sealing iron to put a return edge and I'll be shimming and re-positioning the side rivets. ghoulcinder@hotmail.co.uk
Weathering looks quite good I think, personally I'd prefer it a little dirtier Are you going for a particular trooper at all?
BroadSword
Weathering looks quite good I think, personally I'd prefer it a little dirtier Are you going for a particular trooper at all? No trooper in particular. I'm not hitting too hard with weathering just yet. Figured it's easier to add then take off. I'm using a hybrid approach of PandaTroopers tutorial and the use of real dirt/sand.
sandtrooper
The weathering looks very well done. Get the chest taken care of and you'll be almost there.
THE TROOPER
Is it me, or do the shoulder bells look a like they need a little trim too? But looking nice man. I like the weathering. What are you using??
BroadSword
They could be trimmed a bit a I suppose. I'm using acrylics (Pandatrooper Tutorial) and real dirt application.
BroadSword
Got my bucket done for the most part. Painted and weathered (still need to get white paint for screws). I'll be the first one to admit, I'm no painter but I wanted the hand painted look. Any feed back would be great.
BroadSword
I've since removed some of the tube stripes since they went to far forward on the "jowels" per my GML's input.
BroadSword
Any other thoughts? Ideas? I've since shimmed the sides to close the gaps. Still need to mod the chest piece.

Have you thought of modding your chest plate so that it's a bit smaller / more accurate? Like this... What are some suggestions for the best way to do the cutting on the chest plate? Lexan scissors? Score and snap??? I'll be doing that in the next couple days and want to hear your ideas.
DirtyBoy
Ok this is a tough mod to do and will be a visual point on your gear. I personally would cut as much out of the top as I could before doing the bottom. It'll be somewhat hidden under your pauldron and pouch. When I did mine I used a stationary belt sander. BroadSword
So you're saying cut from the top at these points:

BroadSword
Makes sense. I should be able to bring the chest up a couple of inches.
BroadSword
Forgot I had a pic of it all with the bucket on. This is pre-shimming and chest mod though. Should have it done this weekend and I'll be starting the pack too.
