I wear a belt like those used to lift heavy objetcs. It helps a lot.

Also, i think is not just the pack, but the having to stand up straight for too long that makes that tothe lower back.

I also take advil after troops.

;)

Tips!

1-Yes chest strap definately helps.

2-Pad straps, that helps

3-Have massage therapist planned and lined up immediately after troop!

4-Go to Bar! And drink 2 death sticks. To relieve pain and prepare for next troop!

I switched to elastic straps and the flexibility provided a lot less strain on the shoulders and back...was almost like it wasn't even there. Only drawback was getting the right length of the straps

Thanks for the advice. It looks like I have everything covered except the Advil. If anyone has any other tips that they use please let me know as my back would greatly appreciate it.
