OK so I am ready to attach the dish to the botom of the tube then attach the tube to the pack. Any advise is gratefully received as I can't find a tutorial.

Here i have painted a CD black and added a washer so the bolt fits

This is the Jug lid which will have a hole drilled in the centre for the bolt end and nut

Plan is to superglue the lid to the disk

These are the bolts etc

The bolt will go through a hole in the pipe through the CD, held with a nut

This will then end up like this (hopefully)

When attached to the pipe is it in direct line with the panel or offset a bit ?

Hoping the "coward" label doesn't stick since this is the trooper I have emulated, lol! I would like to suggest the following alternatives: 1) the evasive trooper, 2) the smart trooper, or 3) the live-another-day trooper. Notice, he's not alone back there!

Your lab pipe, by the way, is looking nice. The center of my dish lines up with the button on the panel.

There is a sanding disk backer that you use. I have a screw that goes through the tupperware lid, through the sanding disk backer and into the mortar tube. If you use one of those self taping screws you don't need a nut to hold it in place.
