slave1pilot
My first attempt at weathering armor I started with the brown, but it still needs the black done what do you guys think?
theGreatSot
I would say that it looks pretty good. I would also say that because the armor is for the fan-film, you might consider doing a test with the camera that will be used for filming, because it seems as if the subtleties might get washed out in the exposure. You might want to base the "finished" weathering off of that, because what looks good IRL to the human eye is totally different than that of a camera. Just my $0.02. Be sure to post pics as you make some progress.

slave1pilot
I added theblack wash & the Aerators, painted the chin & did a quick mock-up of the blast shields. The shield is made of the same green welding visor as the lenses. waddya think?

Daetrin
If the fan film this is for is even 1/2 the quality of the helmets, it will be a fine film indeed!! And uh, if you ever need a home for it after the movie is done...lemme know!
TD2802
Especially like the black wash application. Nice work!

slave1pilot
I wasn't totally thrilled with the blast shield in the pic i posted earlier. It was a quickie job to get the basic look of the helmet. I did a little ( a lot actually) of trial & error today in an attempt to get the visor to actually function. Here's where it stands now. and here's one with Mini-me

Daetrin
And, to make some extra bucks, sign a few and use them in the movie, then sell them as collector's items.

theGreatSot
I want I want I WANT! So when do these go on sale?
slave1pilot
After reviewing the original design and listening very carefully to everyone's suggestions, I did some more work on the Visor. This visor is made of ABS painted silver with a welding visor trimmed to the approximate shape. The actual visor will be made of Aluminum . I made these up to see if it were possible to make a functional visor & found that although there will be some difficulty getting the visor(s) to operate believably, it's nothing that John can't handle. Here is yet another revision of the basic shape that we are going for. i feel this one is closer to the original design. And here it is next to the original concept
theGreatSot
Looks pretty spot on to the original concept. Good work! Like I said, you did a great job weathering.
