inglorious trooper
just a quick question, does anyone know for sure if the scope rail should be sprayed black or left metal? or can it be either?

inglorious trooper
cheers for opinions guys, think im leaning towards leaving it,but any concrete evidence of what colour it should be would be great!!
iconoclasta_88
I guess it should be black... Many props in ANH were just spray painted all black, dont see why blasters would be any different. Here is a picture: Saludos
DarthAloha
It was a mix... some painted... some not... here are some that are not painted:

iconoclasta_88
I would do black if you are using it with your TD. The pict I posted is from the replicas used in Tunisia. The other ones are deactivated sterlings used at Elstree. Your choice, but I would do black. Saludos.
inglorious trooper
juan, youve sold it to me,black it will be lol(also looking at your photos and then looking at my gun it seems unfinished!
iconoclasta_88
When shooting the Tatooine locations on Tunisia, customs would not allowed weapons to cross the borders. So they had to dismantle the Sterling SMG to bring it for shooting the movie. That is why TD's E11s are different from the rest of the E11s seen in ANH. Main modifications are: The main body was cut in two, having to complete the butt end with another tube. That is why the butt endcap is different cause is a cast. The recoiling stick (or whatever it is called ) is just a tube fixed with a screw. Also, the main tube appears to have another tube inside to give it more strenght I guess. The ejecting chamber also looks different. Different scope rails. No trigger and different trigger guard. And also the paintjob, since this blasters were build, probably they were all just sprayed painted black. When E11 on the death star were real deactivated sterlings, that needed no paint. Maybe that is why some rails appear silver like or shinny. The picture is a TD E11. Hope it helps. Saludos.
