  1. Bummer. Yes, post up some pics please. Doug
  2. Working now, so far, for three visits! Doug
  3. Any ideas yet? This is really aggravating! It really does turn me off visiting as much. Doug
  4. I'm having the same login problem. It's to the point where I don't visit as often. So how about it, any ideas on how to fix it yet? Doug
  5. As far as spending on "other" things, I just want less gov't in our lives, too many entitlements create a nanny gov't and I think that is just pathetic. What happened to personal responsibilty? Gov't should protect our country and our intrests, generate an environment for commerce and charity, support transit infrastructure, enact and enforce laws, minimize tax burden, and provide basic education. Let the free market and personal charity take care of the rest. As far as taking care of the "needy" (not talking needy mentally or physical here) -- teach them to pull up their bootstraps and not depend on handouts. We now have generations of folks who are cought in a cycle of poverty simply because they know no other way to live. So creating more entitlements just creates more dependants -- gov't sucks at this stuff. Man, I could go on and on... Doug
  6. I didn't say Iraq, I said defense. With that said, we broke it (Iraq) so we have a responsiblity to fix it, what ever it takes. Doug
  7. Who(m)ever gets elected, just hope they don't let the tax cuts expire or the average folk will be paying $2100-2500 more in taxes per year and god help us if they create more entitlement programs (as promised) then not only will the tax cut go away but taxes will go way up. I want gov't spending tightened everywhere but defense, anyone promising that? Doug
  8. Economic ebbs and flows. Just figure this crap happens every 10-12 years or so, bubles burst, markets correct (back to reality), business as usual. Just tighten the belt for awhile and ride it out best you can. Energy-wise... What I hope happens is, fuel costs get so bad that the folks get ****** enough to force the gov't to create incentives for business' to fully develop alternatves then followed by the gov't creating programs to fund infrastructures to support those alternatives. Creates jobs and reduces dependance, go figure. In the mean time open ANWR to drilling and build more refineries already!
  9. Thanks Guys! I wish the pics turned out better it looks much better in person. It's funny when folks try to pic it up expecting it to be a heavy metal piece -- lol. Hopefully the quick rundown on how I did it will help someone. Any questions feel free to ask. Regards, Doug
  10. Disregard my above "brain fart". Ok here is what I've found out so far... HIPS was developed in the 1950's. The LEGO company changed from cellulose acetate to newly developed ABS plastic for their "bricks" in 1963 (still in use today). So there we have it, ABS was around during the 70's. Whether or not that is what was used is still in question. I'm voting for HIPS (for armor) because there are different "sheens" you can get with that material and it seems that ABS is too shiny (just opinion). Doug
  11. I seem to remember reading awhile ago that ABS was patented in the mid 80's? Not totally positive about this (my memory is fuzzy at times lol), I'll try to dig a bit to find so more accurate info. Doug
  12. I tried to capture the subtle weathering details but I just couldn't get them all to show up. I started with the raw painted gun then started by spraying flat black, then adding silver, gray, brass and dark rust details using a combination of brush and ragging to apply the paint, then I went back with flat black ragging thick and thin over the detailing again then adding subtle silver and gray areas again then dull coated the whole thing then masked off areas I wanted to keep flat black then shot with gloss coat then lightly scotchbrited the whole thing more in some areas than others to get a weatherd sheen. whew! I fixed the links for the following pics.
  13. Mods can you please "pin" this thread to help others so they don't have to go through what I did? Recommendations from Lewis himself... Only deal with the following: SLAVEFIVE = Lewis Ervoes SLAVE1PILOT = Nathan Mutter Sci-Fire website...emails are fwd to JB and then to me...you will get an email from slavefive(at)cox.net or lewis(at)victormedical.com Anytime you buy from eBay or private sales on forums you are at risk unless it is from Nate or myself...if you have any concerns 'dont buy it!'...Just ask us and we will get back to you...and in all honesty so many people know us and have our phone contact info that it can be verified at some point...better safe then sorry... ...a side note is that these are not only our forum names but also our eBay user IDs... See what promped this thread... http://www.mepd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2885 Doug
  14. Good news folks, my Hyperfirm arrived! A big thanks goes out to Lewis on this one, once he stepped in it only took a very short time to get this. He went way above the call and beyond his scope of reponsiblity to handle this and I appreciated it greatly. So for those who have followed this and for those who are researching getting a Hyperfirm here is a rundown and some recommendations. Middle Finger Award, goes to Bill Phippen ebay ID(s) Was: teamphippen Now is: sportzjunky55 -- for taking my money, not shipping my item, no communication, lieing on his feedback to cover his ***, screwing with his friend John Bush and damaging the reputation of Hyperfirm by representing he was practically Hyperfirm himself leading me to getting screwed over resulting in me having to drag this to the boards - yuck! (FYI, Lewis has said he got the "unauthorized" molds back from Bill so there should be no more available from him.) Big Heart but Sadly No Follow Through Award, goes to John Bush -- (nice guy and very cordial) he stepped in to offer to make good on what Bill (his friend) screwed me out of, but in the end John was just too busy to follow through with resolving this one (maybe too many logistical issues). Hero of the Day Award, goes to Lewis Ervoes -- (nice guy, no nonsense, and a bit of a potty mouth as my son would say -lol) after a couple PM's he went out of his way (literally 65 miles out) to make, trim, paint and ship me my gun. Thanks again Lewis! 15. I've got no complaints about sci-fire and have never said so (never dealt with them). However TP did represent themselves as authorized Hyperfirm sellers (and were in the past - why I thought it was ok) so you can understand my residual negative feelings (I have to take their (SF) word that they had no associations with TP). I think a thread from sci-fire specifically regarding who should and should not be dealt with regarding Hyperfirm sales would help folks in the future and eliminate any confusion. I am only wanting what was promised to me by JB (since the middle of June). It's feeling a lot like the dog ate my homework with the "I have it -- it's done, but for one reason or another I just can't get it in the mail". It's stressful and maddening for me as you can imagine, and I think it would go a looong way in the positive PR area if it just showed up on my front porch. I will yell loud and clear either way (pos or neg) regarding the final outcome, in other words if John comes through I will praise his efforts and if it falls apart I will of course comment on that as well. Let me add, I appreciated folks coming to my defense, but there is no need for name calling. This thread is to keep people informed as to who to watch out for and who is or is not a stand-up person and to let you know the ulimate outcome. Doug
  16. Great info! I know absolutley nothing about molds, that's why I started this thread to get as little insight on the process. I'm not even sure if molds is the proper term I've also heard the term bucks, would that be more accurate? BTW, is this one strictly plaster? Would a likely process be to make a master then somehow make copies for full production?
  17. What indicates that they are two years old or less?
  18. There are some pics with various molds on shelves including another face mold, but no more close-ups.
  19. I'm with Jez (comment over at RPF) in thinking the close up mold is likely the battle spec helmet. There is another face mould on one of the shelves (composit shot) that could be the Hero/Stunt. Doug
  20. Wow it's dead around here...how 'bout this? Interesting pics here... http://www.whatsdandone.com/sds/ Thoughts on the moulds?
  21. High. Also trim/file the eyes out more. Rec your PM, here is what I mean... Just a quick photoshop, not perfect but you get the idea.
