  1. Hi! Just to inform everybody, I will get back to this topic - just had no time during last months to work on that project. Coming back soon!

  3. Hi Brad, I recommend the pack from Crashman here in the forum - he sells a backpack kit, that nearly has all the parts you need.
  4. Yeah, your right! I forgot to snap the belt on... and the pouch should be closer to the chest, right? Thany You, Bigwam!
  5. Hi Folks, I am heading for applying basic approval and want to make my way to PO. Build that sweetie over the last 2 years, including Backpack. Wanted some feedback from you. Do you think I am ready for BA and later on PO? Is there anything to adjust? Some Information: Armor and Helmet is a RS-Kit, that was build by me Pauldron is Trooper1 Backpack is a Kit by Crashman with some adjustments Weapon is 3d print and bought via ebay so manufacturer is unknown Boots are some used riding boots painted white and weathered afterwards Painting and weathering by myself, mostly acrylic with some decent airbrush touchups
  6. Hi Folks, I am not shure if mentioned here already, but the most crucial influence for buiding armor and helmet for me were some youtube tutorials that shins through a lot of weird stuff on youtube. Here are some recommandations... this youtube tutorial series by RS-Propmasters: They did more than 30 parts and went the complete road to the end. There is one series to the helmet and one to the armor. Also it is so much fun to watch, cause they talk A LOT about the background and history of the armor - they know their stuff! - really had a great time with the videos. Also recommend the videos of richiestormtrooper, who has some videos with more special topics like strapping or painting. Also interesting and a good source: And last but not least the videos of mikelbrierly, who shows his build of a sandtrooper backpack, that was also very helpful:
  7. Hi Quinn, welcome! I really recommend the Backpack-Kit from Crashman (he is here at the forum). He sends you a fully equipped package with all the goodies you need. Especially the hard to find parts (like the radio) were top notch. I attached some fotos of mine over here. It was fun to build but obviously is quite some work. For the boots basically a lot of people tend to buy riding boots and paint them white with Angelus-leather-color. That works well and I like the not perfectly white appeal in the end, that seems accurate to me. But there are also sellers with white boots from the getgo, especially imperial boots. For Pauldrons, there are quite a few alternatives. But also a lot of bad ones. Got one that is very flimsy (you can have it :D) and went the extra mile to trooper1, who seems to be the preference for most people over here Cant recommend RS-Propmasters enough. Especially cause they have a complete youtube-tutorial service for the whole build that is so much fun to watch, because the show you the construction but also have so much background information on all the parts. Really entertaining. They also have neckseals, blasters etc. Cheers
  8. Yeah - thanks for answering that. I agree. Maybe its also that Star Wars is in a difficult situation in general: with all the new stuff coming out the people more and more split into different factions. Also I am not happy about a lot of the new stuff and don't like it at all. For many years Star Wars was a thing to generally bring people together on a childhood memory-level. These are the storys you enjoyed being a kid and a lot of people still react to that feeling when they see you in costume. It was a kind of World-Story everybody could gather around no matter where you're from or who you are. They were trying to generate profit out of it for sure, but in a much more decent manner than today. Nowadays Star Wars as a topic has a really heavy bias in being a cash-cow more than ever. Having Disney pumping out stuff no-matter-what, splitting communities in half. Throwing over heritage and - the most relevant for me - releasing mediocre and bad movies and shows more than good ones - just to have someting spicy and new. A lot of people around me are torn apart - loving and hating Star Wars at the same time. It gets much more difficult to get in contact to that pure positive feeling you could rely on 7-8 years ago. For me, that is the most relevant explanation for people turning away. But in a way, for the MEPD that could also be some kind of chance: There are not a lot of costumes so tightly connected to that old and original feeling than Sandtroopers. That combination of toilet-parts, lousy application of dirt and Duck-Tape combined with some WW2 found Parts is more "original Star Wars" than everything else. And I love that especially about it.
  9. Hi Guys, Read the threat and thought about it. I wanted to mention: don't be too harsh. YOUR dedication is outstanding - that is for shure! And I love every bit of it. You guys are the tip of the iceberg! The craziest guys/girls out there in the outer rim! For sure! But every iceberg has a tip and a lot of ice beneath it. I think being able to build a screen accurate SW Costume is such a nerdy and painfull process, even in the most simple fashion it is just MADNESS. Even if you throw all your money at it and buy a ready suit, you will have to put so much work in it, to make it fit. There is NO EASY MODE for this at all. And that is the beauty in it. So don't be mad at people that are "just" putting one year of work in their gear instead of 15 years. That is ONE YEAR. For a costume! For a piece that "normal" people buy in the store for 15 Bucks. I am one of the people you mentioned: following the CRL and being happy to make it work. But if I tell friends about that hobby, they think that I am crazy. Having a CRL? For a Costume? WTF?? Putting one year of lifetime into a costume, ARE YOU SERIOUS!!??. And they are right. It is crazy. Everyone could decide how far he/she would go. And I love about that community, that in general, nobody judges you for "just" going to level 1. The Community is happy to have you. To help you. They applaud you for your individual dedication - no matter how big it is. It has do be everyones own decision, because time is precious in life. And giving even a bit of it to that SW-Costume hobby and talking about it, helping others over here - you have all my respect and I will say: Thank you - Sir and Madam! But that is just my opinion.
  10. The gun is surprisingly lightweight - even lighter than my E11. Ready to hunt some Jawas!
  11. Hey, wanted to show my new DLT. I got it quite cheap as a used and damaged 3d-Print. Put some love into it, repaired and repainted everything. Will add some more detailed pics later.
  12. Hey Hausi, thank you. Now you are pointing these details out, it seems obvious, yeah. I will fix these. First step will be basic approval, but I am shooting for PO someday.
