  1. Interesting side note: that round metal loop is most likely horse tack from civil war cavalry. I found it metal detecting a union cavalry site.
  2. The old leather weathering trick with vinegar and rusty horse tack and nails:
  3. I mean I'm trying to assemble the parts for this pack and it's maddening. I put a portion of the parts I needed into the shopping cart over at Tosche Traders and went to check out and it just stops me cold. It says I need to contact them about adding shipping to my location (United States). To add to that, I can't find the Siphon needed anywhere else but on their site and it's out of stock and has been for weeks upon weeks. The only thing I've successfully been able to find and order is Woodman's radio. :/
  4. One other question -- on the filter pack... the box on the right side above the mortar tube -- is that referred to as Brexen Tool Box B?
  5. The red canvas underneath doesn't pose a problem, or is that actually movie-correct? Not critiquing, but actually asking a question to learn more before I attempt a build. Thanks!
  6. I have an idea on simulating glass lenses: Epoxy Resin. People use it to simulate water/liquid. What do you guys think?
  7. This is the most patient I've been in my life. It's been 4 weeks and I haven't even bugged them.
  8. The more I eyeball this, the more I'm concerned with messing the kit up if I try to drill to insert lenses. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to just use some reflective film to simulate the glossiness of lenses. Thoughts? The problem is finding lenses that will fit right without throwing off the authentic look, and getting those lenses fitted into the sockets effectively. Obviously the binoculars aren't going to actually work, so if I can simulate lenses with reflective film it might give me the look I'm going for?
  9. That one might actually work. Can it wear the backpack too?
  10. My kids are a bit older, and I was thinking of having it on the mannequin in my man cave type room.
  11. So... I know Original Stormtrooper has had mixed reviews on here, but has anyone considered their mannequin for display and storage of your armor? Mannequin Or do you have other alternatives, or do you just put yours in a bag or closet and don't display it? The attractive thing about the Original Stormtrooper option to me is the fact that it's in the standard trooper pose holding the blaster.
  12. So I'm using TKTalkie. I think I've read in the tutorials that the sound files for it need to be WAV, is that correct?
  13. Gattaca, who is on the 501st forums I think? PM me for his email address. I'll message him to see if he's ok with me posting it publicly here.
  14. I thought there was a plugin you can download and see photobucket? It worked for me.
  15. Received my Electrobinoculars kit. Any tips for drilling the lens parts out or more importantly installing glass lenses into said sockets once I'm done drilling?
  16. That totally makes sense because this past week has been 'snowtrooper week'. So now I understand what they meant by that. Thanks for the insight! Does the big brown box require a signature for delivery?
  17. Flat white and weathered afterwards is what I would think. It's hard to tell the difference between flat white/egg shell and light warm grey in pictures online (especially when many people have weathered theirs too).
  18. Is the Fullers something you apply once (so get it right), or is it something you apply periodically before troops?
  19. Thanks! I'll do it. If I'm reading correctly, if I ever want to go SWAT don't I have to approximate the weathering pattern on a specific screen Sandtrooper character?
  20. Are the electrobinoculars flat white in color? I have a kit on the way and I'm prepping for a build. It's keeping me busy while I wait for my armor.
  21. Waiting *impatiently* on my armor. Not many here have done a full commission, so I'm unsure of how the process works. In other words, am I in a queue for most of the 6 to 8 weeks and then they build towards the end? Is it being built now and it takes them time to do it as they get time from their other projects? Will they post a status update to my 'Processing' order status when they actually start building? Will I receive some photos of the build in progress? I haven't emailed them since my measurements. I don't want to wear them out. lol
  22. I think that's what I'll do for sure. The RS pack will get me approved and busy Trooping. I can work on the SWAT pack as a hobby going forward.
