I got the buckles in and one of them is smaller than the others.
Personally, I like the smaller one better. I thought about complaining to the supplier and trying to get more small ones but in the end decided to just use what they sent me.
What do you guys think?

You can use your washing machine if it's a top load but you need to run a few cycles when you're done.
Thanks, I might just do that. You think I should boil the water on the stove top then pour it in the washing machine?

I'm building one as well. Looking forward to seeing this build and get some tips for mine

I just love Rogue One so much I decided to make the other pack as well.
Parts -
I've got the frame, ammo box and the cord that runs up the antenna.
I have a medium LC-1 alice pack and I was hoping it would work, but I'm looking at the differences and there are just too many for me to be happy. So I ordered the large LC-2 with what should be the correct straps.
I still need the fishing rod, I think I'm going to try to find someone in the stores here, it won't be screen accurate but I really don't want to order from the UK and wait two weeks for it.
I've ordered yhe idye poly in brown and black. I don' have a big enough pot to heat up the water in, so I'll have to get something for that.
I've got some foam for inside the bag, but I'll need more.
I messaged for the hook greeble so I should have that ordered soon as well.
The bed shouldn't be too hard to make. Finding the right fabric and dyeing it may be difficult.
I'm hoping to be able to accomplish the orange on the sholder with the spray paint I already have.

A few people have pointed out that the pauldron is inaccurate. The conection pieces should be attached underneath and have white material on them.
I cut them off
I decided to go with a thinker fabric (probably has a name but I don't know it) so that it wouldn't fray and I count just glue it down and not worry about sewing through the think leather.
Also decided that instead of trying to patch the holes I would sew along the line and make it long, hopefully making it look intentional.
I used the original holes for the rivets.
And after a little weathering looks somewhat like it should.

When I do a search for the fishing rod all I get is .uk sites. Even when I search for the NGT 12ft float master alternative all I see is .uk. Any alternatives for the us?
Also, is the bedroll still undetermined? I don't see any info for it.
Side note, this is so cool! Great work and detail! I saw this over on FIST and at the time thought 'some day'
Now I'm ready!

So I just wanted to show off. This is how it breaks down for easy transport.
This is a size comparison to my Heavy Weapons Trooper pack. It's a little smaller.
Weighs about 10 pounds which is not bad. I think I can get it even litter by replacing some of the wood parts with foam.

One thing I noticed. Shouldn't the neck area on the pauldron be white also? Maybe some leather paint could fix that.
I noticed as well. I wish they had attached it to the bottom and not the top like a regular pauldron. I've debated glueing a piece of white fabric to it

Got some photos today
This has been a really long and hard project but I'm happy with how it looks. I think the backpack really exceeded my expectations.

Backpack is mounted to the back plate. Also I moved the suspenders to conect at the front of the sholder straps. I think this will help prevent the torso from riding up.
Everything is weathered other than the helmet.

I'm just so proud, I wanted to post up here as well.
Big thanks to Krookknight for sending me some of the 3d printed parts.
And yes, I did flip the top boxes to be the right way.
More pictures of me wearing it to come.

Darnit! I just noticed I flipped the top two boxes. I'll have to correct them tomorrow

Tomorrow I'll start weathering, shouldn't take me too long. I hope to get pictures Saturday, completed with the pack on

Your attention to detail is a perfect fit here at MEPD. You may not only be the first R1 trooper here, but maybe the first PO and SWAT R1 Trooper!
1 hour ago, dutchy said:That thought crossed my mind too. Would be quite a way to make an entrance!
Thanks guys! I'd love to go for SWAT but at the moment I don't think I'm good enough. I keep seeing the armor with a critical eye. If only we could get our hands on one of the screen used armors. I would totally buy this armor again from an armor maker that could say he took molds from the originals.

Seven tries to get four good boxes.
I remade the three white inserts to fit the boxes.
I made a plywood base and gave it some legs to raise it up. It' not completely painted or even glued down.
I am so close to being done. I should have the backpack done tomorrow, I just need to figure out how I want to attach it to the back plate.
-
I glued the 3d printed top of the "pump" to a piece of wood.
rough cut
After sanding and bondo. This will give it more hight. Then I painted it black
I cut the 3d printed pump down as I wanted to make it larger. It took a little bit of thinking but finally decided on vacuum forming.
This is my super cheep setup.
I forgot to take a picture of the mold, but I used CDs that I cut in half and put spacers between them
This is the pump and top glued together. It looks like a mess now but it will look good afternoon sanding and paint.
-
I cut the brow line down.
Hard to tell the difference, but it' an 1/8 inch smaller between the black rim and the eyes.
I resined the jar to try to get rid of the "valley" where the paper was. So the sides are straight.
Afte sanding.
I have it painted but forgot to take a picture.
My styrene is in, so hopefully tomorrow I'll make some good progress with the vacuum forming

82 dollars for half a fishing rod is so hard for me to justify at the moment. I expected to find a cheap replacement but I had no idea fishing rods were so expensive.
Thanks for sharing David
