  1. Hi John, I think your chestweathering looks very close to the original now but I would like to ask you to add a close-up of your chest for me to compare to the references. Again, awesome work on your pack but as Airborne Trooper has already pointed out, put some dirt on it! I will also need to see pictures from the sides and the back again in which you are wearing your pack (one separate picture from the back without the pack).
  2. So you have figured out where to add the wire on the T-tracks, nice work. Everything is looking really good now but I still have to see the shoulder pouch. I would like to write your review tomorrow.
  3. Hi Shawn, your gear looks great already and suits you very well. I like the weathering of your armor, looks very natural and realistic. I am busy trooping this weekend, so I will do your review next week. Some points you want to look at and improve were already mentioned by our dirty brothers in arms and I will quickly summarise them... and add some more: The mesh in the frown of your helmet is okay for PO but if you want to be even more screen accurate, I would suggest you get rid of it. I will need to see some detail shots of your blaster. From what I can see so far, I think you have to add the wire around the T-tracks. Do you have the disc greebly? You don't have to add the tape to your pack but I would definitely suggest adding some more dirt, especially on the sides of the seed trays and the mortartube endcaps and detail but also the bottles. Everything still looks too clean so give it a wash with some watered down earth/sand colour. Add the shoulder pouch, it may be canvas or leather. Mine is connected with the shoulderstrap of the backpack, which goes through a loop on the backside of the pouch and held with a snap, one side of the snap on the back of the pouch, the other on the shoulder strap of the backpack. Furthermore I need to know how your shoulder bells are attached to the shoulder elastics. I would have expected to see some sew-on snaps on the elastics... but can't see amything. The last thing is just a suggestion: the screws you have used to emulate the screen used bracket strapping look a little long, I'm just worried you might destroy your undersuit with such long screws. I'm looking forward to seeing some more pics, keep up the good work and have a nice weekend. Cheers mate
  4. Welcome Aimee, have fun working on your armor and keep us updated!
  5. You're on a tight schedule mate! Already looking really good, way to go!
  6. Too much for me I'm staying with my RWA vaccuformed one.
  7. Looks great Felix, I love it. As you told us we should regard this like a SWAT thread.... I think you have missed the weathering on the outside of the twisted right biceps and I would still extend the weathering on the lower right chest (from your point of view) a little more to the right side. We might have new DOs but you brought the game to a whole new level and your work was and still is really inspiring. Can still remember my first troop in Speyer when I wasn't even a member of the 501st. The first two Troopers I saw that day were you in your TD armor and your wife as Boush (still have the pic I took ) Also you were so friendly and welcoming, that was really cool. And it made me really want to go the full monty about this Star Wars costuming thing! Thanks for that Felix.
  8. Dude, I hope you keep posting so much here when you start your build
  9. storm56 has shared this link in his own build thread: https://www.gumtree.com/p/pots-ornaments/used-seed-sowing-trays/1282439526 I have tried to contact them several times to get some infos and maybe buy some but the line was always busy, guess something didn't work as the seller is in the UK and I was trying to call from Germany. You might give it a try though.
  10. Dude, I feel with you, amazing to see so much enthusiasm! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that it arrives asap
  11. Hey Daniel, nice to see you here again mate!
  12. Weathering is looking very promising already but some of it looks still a little too solid and not natural enough (especially the chest, the shoulder bell and the inside of the right thigh, looks as if it was just applied with a brush or sponge and that's it) Try toning it down using some very fine sandpaper and/or silicone remover to take some of the paint off again, then add another layer, that way it should look more realistic.
  13. Really cool to see all those happy faces in your pics mate! Great work Makes me want to go trooping too!
  14. I like it. Don't forget to put some dirt on that shoulder pouch too And you might want to find a way to secure that left shin to make sure it doesn't slip up, velcro, snaps, whatever you prefer.
  15. Personally I wouldn't recommend this armor, might be good for basic approval but too much to change for level two/PO, e.g. shoulder elastics have the wrong snaps, pouches are nice but not accurate as they emulate the original canvas shoulder pouch but are made of leather, for the ammobelt you would actually need different pouches too, more like the leather "stolla wien". Pauldron seems to be very thin. Helmet looks nice but decals are stickers while they should be painted. On top of all that is the overlap method which has already been pointed out by henselmonster.
  16. That's the advantage of living in the UK/Scotland, here in Germany it's really hard to get a pipe with the correct diameter. Your pack looks really good now, time to get it dirty!
  17. Hey fellow dirty dudes, I have added an RWA vacuformed Shires syphon to my pack and I love it. Thought I would share some experience here, might help people still searching for an accurate and affordable syphon. What you get is the two halves, some coverstrips to glue them together and the top of the syphon. After trimming I wanted to start glueing and found out that the Syphon is actually made from HIPS, superglue sadly doesn´t work very well with it so I used plastic weld. To get rid of any gaps or seams I made some HIPS sludge. Being used to working with ABS sludge, this was a strange experience as the HIPS reacts differently to the acetone and takes a lot longer to melt... and a lot of stirring. But finally it worked and after the sludge had dried and some sanding, I spraypainted the syphon matte black mounted on my pack, and after receiving some well deserved dirt, it now looks like this: I have to say that it´s light, very robust and I´m absolutely happy with it. Also used the opportunity to mess around with the wire on my radio which looked way too tidy. Now it looks like this: cheers mates
  18. Your attention to details is just amazing!
  19. Nice work on the exhaust port mate! Looking good. Tape around the toolbox is good as well and same goes for the labpipe, good work emulating that shape from the reference pics. One thing I haven´t noticed before is the height of the detail on your mortartube: it is sitting too low, I´m sorry that I´m a little late pointing this out. I´m aware that this is quite annoying right now after you have already painted the mortartube but it´s an essential detail. Hopefully it will not be too difficult to change that (hope you glued it on using E6000). It should almost align with the upper edge of the tray:
  20. As I´ve already mentioned, your labpipe has the wrong shape at the top. Have a look at this pic: my very amateurish drawing should show an enlarged version of the top of the labpipe, showing the shape it should have. Have a look at the reference pic again and try to somehow emulate that shape. Shouldn´t be too difficult as you don´t have to pull it apart again, just add something at the top.
  21. okay, let me help here. Bigwam wants to point out that you should pay attention when attaching the mortartube again, that the height is correct compared to the height of the labpipe, but I have had a look at those pics where your mortartube was still attached and I think you should be fine. Another issue that he has addressed is the shape of the top of your labpipe. While the height is fine now, the shape isn´t correct, the top shouldn´t be as pointed as yours is, I will add some pics in a minute. Your other question was about the tape on the toolbox, I think it should be about 2cms in width, can be slightly wider but not much. As far as the exhaustport is concerned, you should be fine aligning the upper mounting lugs with the rib in the middle of your tray, you can use a spacer for the lower mounting lugs so that it doesn´t turn out crooked in the end.
  22. And the same goes for the shells, you may leave them as they are.
  23. John, don't give up! You are really close now and discussing all of these details is what this is all about. I have talked to Bigwam and we have agreed on the following: Although we cannot see it, we can agree that there were probably no Sandies with thighs where the back has been cut to allow easier movement, but with those troopers where it can't be seen, applicants are allowed to cut that area. Same goes for your trooper: You have to change the height of the labpipe, add the tape around the lunchbox, change the position of the plunger and mortar tube cap, move the exhaustport as M4verck has suggested, paint the mortartube in a matte black, add the paintruns... but you can leave the lower seedtrays as they are as they can't be seen in the scene, no need to rip them apart again and no need to add tape, okay? I think the requested fixes aren't that difficult, so way to go mate.
