  1. Looks really good, but remember, your goal being PO, you will need rubber/vinyl handguards glued onto rubber chemical gloves.
  2. Wires are tied together at the bottom, don't leave it too long, shouldn't be too obvious. Don't forget to cut some very small grooves into the T-tracks to make sure the wire stays put.
  3. You don't have to open it up, mate, just saw it off, sand it down and attach the beestinger again. Then give it a coat of flat black paint. That way, you can take all the time you need to get a real Gio'style or Lionstar canteen and the right battleship grey paint for your new pack while still getting deployed with your present RS pack.
  4. Oh, don't worry about the snap, of course it would be nice if both were the same but I know that in some places in the US you can only get those "Tandie" snaps with the lettering and also keeping in mind RS' policy about spare parts, even those "Tandie" snaps would be okay for me. Just make sure you don't ruin your butt plate, mate... nice and gentle does the job.
  5. Looks very good already, I think you´ve nailed the u-shaped dirt on the ammobelt. I just realized something: in the docking bay scene before they speak to Garindan, the Captain´s waist ammobelt must have slipped down because of carrying the heavy T-21 so close to his armor, that´s obviously the origin of the mystery line of weathering in between. I can see that you have added this detail with the belt in the right position (I guess we can assume that this scene might have been shot before the Garindan encounter with the belt indeed still in the correct position), very well done! You have also done a very good job with the dirt on the right biceps and the shoulder. One thing I am unfortunately still not completely happy with is the four "clawmarks" on the chest: while the shape and layout is almost perfect now, they still look a little too solid, so please try to tone them down a little in this area: You´re really on the homestretch now as Airborne Trooper has said
  6. Hey Scott, welcome and thank you for your interest in becoming an MEPD deployed officer! Back: please tone down the weathering of your back armor so it matches the rest better. Buttplate: please add a second snap to the buttplate as per CRL it says: “Visible fasteners under lower Codpiece center area includes two (or 3) male snaps in the back.” RESULT ON ARMOR pending Backpack a. details: see comments b. weathering: check *additional comments* As has been mentioned before, your Gio´style canteen needs to be altered, the threaded section at the bottle neck has to be removed. RESULT ON BACKPACK pending Weapon a. details: check b. weathering: check *additional comments* Both your weapons look good, you should remove the curly wire on your E-11 but as it is such an easy change, I´m just going to trust you on this With the DLT, you have already noticed that you have to add the wire around the T-tracks. RESULT ON WEAPONS Checked & Cleared Scott, this was your first review! Keep up the good work, those changes aren´t too difficult. I´m looking forward to seeing some new pics of your improved gear soon. Cheers mate Hausi - MEPD Deployment Officer
  7. Hi Scott, nice to see your application here, your kit suits you really well, looks great. You yourself and my fellow dirty dudes have already pointed out some details that should be addressed. Don't worry about the pauldron, I can see that it's dirty. Please also add some pics of the crotch and buttplate, I'll have to see the rivet and the two snaps. Furthermore I would like to see a pic of the inside of your armor, showing the strapping. Please also add one more picture where you show that the handguards are made of rubber/vinyl (squeeze them ) I think that the back of your armor looks almost too dirty, I would suggest toning it down a little, so it matches the rest of your armor better. The pack looks really nice! The threaded section on the bottle should indeed be removed as Airborne Trooper has pointed out. I think it shouldn't be too difficult. You just have to cut it off using a saw, then cut off the bee stinger from that said piece, get a flat round piece of plastic in the right size, attach the bee stinger to this (you could use either super glue or a screw which goes through the little round piece of plastic into the beestinger) and then superglue it to the bottle again, add some black paint and most importantly: dirt ...and voilá: done! This should also make sure that the beestinger doesn't seem too long anymore. Stay tuned for the full review.
  8. Hi John, thanks for hanging in there and for providing all the updates. Let's continue with your review. MEPD SWAT OFFICER: application review part 4 Name: John Reilly Legion ID#0: TD-21804 Forum Name: Talizman Garrison: UKG ANH Sandtrooper selected: Cantina Captain Helmet: Green lenses: check Paint color on traps / tears: check Paint color and number of teeth: check Mic Tips: check Vocoder color: check Rank bar: check Brow: check Side Screws (ears): check Weathering: check **Additional Comments** Good job on the helmet mate, you´ve got all the important details covered. **Result on Helmet** CHECKED & CLEARED (please wait for final decision of the SWAT panel) Armor / Suit Details: Canvas straps shoulder: check Neck Seal: check Black Undersuit: check Shoulder Bells: check Biceps: check Forearms: check Pauldron: check Chest / Back Plate: check Kidney / Butt plate: check Ab plate / Side Rivets / Cod: check Strapping: check Tighs: check Shins / Calves: check Sniper Plate: check Boots: check Gloves: check Hand plates / Guards: check Ammo Belt (waist) w/ correct angled edge: check Ammo Belt (right knee): check Canvas Belt: check Pouches: check Weathering: please see comments Crotch Snaps: check **Additional Comments** Your weathering doesn´t really match the one seen on screen, first of all some major highlights are missing: Back of right shoulder bell and biceps : It´s easier to get the weathering right on these parts if you twist the right biceps clockwise. The weathering on the following parts should be adjusted or altered: Chest: 1. You have successfully toned down the “Clawmarks” but there should be four of them and the one furthest on the right should be extended. 2. You should add some dirt on the upper left chest to match the reference. 3. This section on the righthand bottom of the chest should also receive slightly more dirt. Abdomen: Please add this vertical line (as seen in m4rick´s SWAT application thread) Thighs and Kneeammobelt: 1. Please add the U-shaped weathering in the section after the first raised rectangular detail: 2. Please adjust the strangely shaped spot on the right inside thigh so it matches the screen cap. 3. Please add the horizontal line on the right outside thigh. **Result on Armor** Pending BACKPACK Details: check Weathering: check Position: see comments **Additional Comments** You have really done an amazing job on your backpack, it´s simply stunning how close it is to the screen-used pack. Very well done, mate. But there is one little detail which can be improved: Your pack is hanging a little too low compared to this scenecap: But that´s an easy fix, so you don´t have to add any additional pictures for this. **Result on backpack** CHECKED & CLEARED (please wait for final decision of the SWAT panel) WEAPON: DLT-19 Details: check Weathering: check **Result on Weapon** Although we highly encourage applicants to build the “Bapty”-version of this blaster for SWAT, we still accept the regular version and yours is a very nice example, I like all the details. CHECKED & CLEARED (please wait for final decision of the SWAT panel) John, I think that these are some fairly simple changes and a piece of cake after all the work you have already put into your gear. I know how hard it can be to get the weathering right… it tends to give you a headache and sometimes, having more than one pair of eyes involved in the process can help a lot, this is what SWAT is all about, so go for it and keep up the great work.
  9. Looks already really good but be careful with the shape of the crack/paintrun on the right cheek, as it should end up between the fourth and fifth tubestripe while tubestripe 6 and 7 (I start counting from the ear) should be a little closer together.
  10. I think that shouldn't be a problem for PO, especially as we always emphasize that height or the shape of the body doesn't matter and as it isn't specified by the CRL. For SWAT on the other hand, you would have to source some proportionally smaller forearms.
  11. Hi John, thanks for adding more pics. I have started working on your review but will be away for a couple of days snowboarding, so please give me some time to finish this. Thanks for your patience mate
  12. Looks good, interesting technique with the wooden dowel.
  13. He's taking it to the next level, hyper realistic, having survived the sandstorm, sand on the outside, fogged up on the inside, zero visibility... just make sure you don't trip over some younglings on the first troop
  14. Thanks Jon! Your build with real MG 34 parts is amazing, would love to do that but parts of the MG 34 have become quite expensive here in Germany. Interesting to know that there's no rust present on your original parts, saves me some time. On the other hand I would love to test my new rust effect paint. Will probably try it on my Bapty E-11.
  15. Same happened to me with my pouch Well done, cheers mate.
  16. Sounds good, go for it mate ( I know that this isn´t easy, pack was definitely looking pristine! )
  17. Hey Shawn, are you ready for your review? So here we go! Application Review: Name: Shawn Brock Legion ID: TD 93905 Forum Name: Revolver Ocelot Garrison: Southern California Garrison Helmet a. As mentioned before, you could get rid of the mesh insert in the teeth area to have an even more accurate look, but this isn´t a requirement for PO. I really like your weathering, it looks very natural, good work. RESULT ON ARMOR Checked & Cleared Backpack a. details: check b. weathering: check *additional comments* I assume your pack is an RS pack going by the size and bluish colour of the trays and bottles. This pack is absolutely acceptable for PO. That being said, should you ever decide going for SWAT you will need a new pack as the size isn´t really accurate, it´s slightly too small and instead of the light blue, the lower trays and the bottles should rather be battleship grey. Also the Ghio style canteen hasn´t got the right shape. RESULT ON BACKPACK Checked & Cleared Weapon a. details: check b. weathering: check RESULT ON WEAPONS Checked & Cleared *additional comment* I am sorry that I wasn´t quick enough to tell you were the wire goes on those T-tracks… but thumbs up for doing your research. Shawn, this was you’re your first and final review, great work, congrats brother! You have successfully followed the guidelines in regards to the MEPD CRL and have met the requirements, be proud of yourself. Please send the pic you want to use to Luis (Sandman Tigui) and we'll get you squared away. We will have your updated information uploaded into the MEPD system very soon. Congratulations on becoming a Deployed Officer of the MEPD! Now please report to the Mos Eisley Mess hall (don´t even think about messing around with those Tusken Bikini Maidens mentioned by Sandman Tigui) where you'll serve the troopers until the next newbie gets cleared. Hausi - MEPD Deployment Officer
  18. Although on my mobile phone, the pics are a little distorted, I like the weathering, looks good. If you have used acrylic paint for the weathering, I wouldn't seal it with a clearcoat, just in case you should decide to go for level 3/SWAT and want to change the weathering to match a specific trooper.
  19. Excellent work mate, position of pouch looks good too, but take a black edding/felt tip and paint the white thread black, last and easiest change of them all. Running the backpack strap over the shoulder strap is actually the way to go, most people have it that way. Go for it mate, you are so close, I'm looking forward to writing a very positive review after work today!
  20. In your newest pics you aren't wearing your pack, so I have to see that. As you have to gear up anyway, you can easily show a pic of the rear. Don't worry, I won't be paying much attention to the parts of your armour that would normally be hidden because of the pack, but that way it's easier for me to see the parts that wouldn't be hidden. So way to go!
  21. Sounds good! And could you please also show a close-up of the screws used at the bottom of the chest to emulate the original strapping? I'm afraid they are pan head screws while they should be flat head screws.
