  2. I've borrowed a pipe bender and have some 1" aluminium strips on their way as well as seed trays. I plan to rivet 2 horizontal strips per seed tray, I just need to know total height of frame and bend height/angle. Should I just but the bottom seed tray to the shelf, mark it at the top and bend by eye, or is there a specific location of the bend? This is driving me mad! Haha Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  3. OK, so I have had my backpack frame sitting around for a few week's and thought I would look into making a start on it. Its a vintage karrimor "kp" pack, not sure how accurate it is, but it was a good price. Now, I started looking into two crucial mods, the height and the bend (& height of bend) I found conflicting info on both of these... I even spoke to a armourer and he basically claimed that backpacks don't need a bend and that it is not accurate to have one!? I can't believe that as I've seen bends on almost every pack, so I can't understand why that was said? Anyway... is there a definitive height that is the way to go? I'm talking total height from the "shelf" to the top black caps. How high up do I do the bend and at what sort of angle? Thanks in advance, Kev Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  4. From the colour chart above, is there 3 or 4 that stand out as being good options? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks for the info, I've looked into it a bit and the people I've seen with grout weathering are pretty nice examples. I'll stick some sample pots together for whoever wants to give it a try. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  6. I'm assuming that the tried and true hairspray method would be perfectly fine. The grout is of extremely fine powdery consistency... I'd say its on a par with flour. I'm thinking its definitely worth a punt. I know its water resistant when used for its intended purpose, but not sure how it would cope on armour. As for colours, that's just one brand from a particular rep that I like, there are loads more out there. Might be able to use the really cheap stuff from diy shops, although we don't deal with any of that rubbish, it could be OK for weathering? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks for the response It's not necessarily about the "need" to do it. There are rules in place for swat which I intend to follow, but if I can paint the interior black and pad it out how I like then its a bit of a plus! I can't really take any other artistic licence when going for swat, even the weathering has to be in line with what's on screen. I'm thinking the black interior will also help with people being able to see in through the eyes and frown. I'll be making frown mesh removable as I know its not screen accurate, but I think it looks better with it in. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  8. Has anybody had any experience weathering with tile grout? I work in the trade and deal with different powdered adhesives and grouts on a daily basis. I'm thinking of putting together a few samples pots/bags to give out as testers if anyone is interested. I'm just wondering what colours people think would be the best options. Now, I know fullers earth is right up there as the go to powder, but I figured this may be another option and If it takes off, I can get it cheap and pass the savings on. I look weathered every day at work, so I figured its worth a try!? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

  10. Hi, I'm currently looking at a few vintage karrimor type backpack frames on eBay... There seems to be size variations and I can't find much info regarding the dimensions of the frames that are acceptable for SWAT? I figured if its too high, I could cut it down to size? Are there particular shoulder straps that I need to look at getting or avoiding? Also, what is the policy on painting a TD helmet interior black? I think I remember reading that it was OK for SWAT as it was a interior mod, but then so is frown mesh and that is not accepted...? I would very grateful if somebody could help me out or point me in the right direction Cheers in advance, Kev Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  11. Hi from the UK. Just ordered my sandy kit from RWA and will be putting going for a swat cantina captain if all goes to plan. Apologies in advance for the stupid questions which I will no doubt be asking over the coming months! Will I need to start my WIP thread on here as well as UKG, or can I just link to UKG when i think I'm ready to go for swat? Cheers, Kev Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
