  2. This is a great guide, really appreciate it. In my quest to build my TD, I'm trying to decide if it would be easier and/or more cost effective to build my own pack or buy a pre-built one. I'm not very handy, hence the dilemma. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what all the parts might cost? Would be very helpful to budget this in to the remaining items I need to buy. Thanks. (If dollar figures are a no-no on the open forums, please feel free to PM me).
  3. So I found this picture here in the photo gallery of the captain I plan to build. Just to make sure I understand, to achieve P.O. or SWAT, I need to get the weathering close but not exactly 100% as shown here, correct? Seems like the major weathering is on the ab piece. Thanks for any clarification.
  4. I've got some of the supplies but not all yet. The other Garrison members that will be at the armor party at the end of the month have quite a few supplies, so I'm waiting for the moment. Will keep you guys updated with pictures. Trying to get up the courage to attempt a SWAT build. Seems a bit overwhelming.
  5. Well, after much debate, I've decided to build my armor as a TD. I love the way that they look and think this will not only look great when done, but will also be a great addition to my garrison. I got the big brown box day about a month ago but due to family issues (see having a new baby), I haven't had time to touch it yet. I'll be meeting up with my garrison at the end of the month for an armor party. Hopefully they can get me started and pointed in the right direction so I can start working at home on my own. GOAL: To be 501st approved by Salt Lake Comic Con (Sept 24-26, 2015) SECONDARY GOAL: To be approved for Episode VII release in December, 2015. Those goals will be dependent on funds to purchase the pauldron, pouches, and other supplies I'll need to get approved. For right now, the goal is the get 501st approved and then worry about a weapon and backpack. After being to a few events as a spotter, I really want to get out there in my armor. Thank you in advance for any feedback and advice. I love the MEPD and can't wait to join the ranks. LoveMonkey Big Brown Box pictures below!
  6. Welcome! This site as great info, but also check out whitearmor.net for info on the different armor makers.
  7. Welcome! Check out whitearmor.net, which has tons of information to get you started. Good luck!
  8. So here is the question that I have for everyone...do you use MP-40 pouches on both the shoulder and hip? I've been trying to read here and figure out exactly what I need to start looking for and buying as I start my build and as I work for P.O. status but I'm just a bit confused as to exactly what I need. I originally thought it was 2 MP-40 pouches but after doing some reading, I'm not so sure. Any advice/direction you can give me would be great and helpful for other newbies down the line. Thanks!
  9. So here's my question, and maybe I just haven't found it yet despite my searching. I'm very close to pulling the trigger and purchasing an AM kit (I'm 6'4" and 220 lbs, so I think this is the best kit available for me at the moment). My question is, what needs to be changed on the basic TK kit to make it a TD apart from pouches and weathering?
  10. After a long time of wanting to join the 501st, I'm finally getting to it (along with financially talking my wife into it). After some research, I've decided I want to be a TD. Nothing purchased yet as I need an armor for a 6'4" frame, but I'm excited to start the process. Hopefully within a year I will be part of this fine department. Welcome to all the other newbies as well.
