  1. They should be leather on the hips, but it really depends on how accurate you want to go. Killer price BTW.
  2. Thanks guys. I don't have it in me to crack the helmet in the lower section, but maybe I can get away with just some fancy paint work. I will give it a try. Honestly before you mentioned it I had totally forgot about that. So thank you!
  3. Well I have been collecting parts for a little while now and I finally am getting some bigger pieces in. After all the small stuff, pouches, boots, pauldron, E-11 etc. I decided to try and tackle the helmet. This is a MTK. I forgot to shoot photos of the build, but I am still playing with the weathering so it could still change a little. I hand painted everything on it, except the tube strips which I used a stencil. And my buddy wanted his photo taken. LOL Right now all the weathering is just hairspray and fullers earth, I so I can take away or add pretty easily. It looks much dirtier in person, so I will try to get some more "accurate" photos soon. I am going for the move along trooper, so if I missed something please let me know. Thanks guys!
  4. And I just realized boots can go in this section too. LOL OK so I got some TK boots a little while ago. After going to the disco clubs a couple of times I tried my hand at weather them.
  5. Alright, a little thread title modification and a place to put the Pauldron photos. I snagged a Trooperbay Pauldron a little while ago. For me Trooper1 and Trooperbay were a toss up, both looked to be great products, but the immediate availability of the Trooperbay was a selling point this time around. So here is what I got. As some of you may notice there was a little issue, one of the seems was forgotten at some point. So I hit up Mike at Trooperbay and he gave me several options with what to do about it. Great customer service and I opted to keep it and he gave me a healthy discount for my trouble. I was going to take it to a shop, but decided I would try to fix it myself. Surprisingly it wasn't to difficult and it was time to start weathering. Here is were I got too so far. I might modify the weathering a little after checking some more references on the move along trooper. Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions you may have.
  6. Well I forgot to shoot photos of the rest of the journey, but long story short, sand, fill, sand, glue, repeat. I know there is more I can do to make this more accurate and smoother, but I lost some steam after other parts started showing up. So I decided to wrap it up today with the intention of possibly revisiting this someday in the future. Or sooner, looking at the photos the patch on the butt stock (name?) is not looking so hot. I sprayed it metallic aluminum, then satin black over the top followed by a dull coat and some scraping with a knife and Tamiya weathering kits. I wasn't going to use a dull coat, but the Satin black ended up being a high gloss and it really need mellowing out. Thanks for looking and any comments.
  7. Thanks guys. A little more progress. I added some square foam to the inside which I think helps the look, not perfect, but nice and light. It also seemed that the flaps were too tall, so I pulled the seam on the back, shortened it and but it back on. Then I got some of Anthony's (Blaster 8266) leather MP40 pouches. Really nicely made, but much too clean. So I scuffed them up and added some imitation dirty. And since this is associated with the pouches I had the wife make me a belt. She got a big high five for this one. I'm going to paint the foam in the canvas pouches and I think that wraps it up. Thanks for looking and any suggestions.
  8. A little bit more progress. The Doopydoos kit came in and I started putting that on, but because of the modified barrel length I have to make some alterations. So the first thing I did was use the existing T track to make one long piece and since I cut a bunch off the Hasbro model I needed a bunch of it. So I used the modified length one to make a mold and made 5 new ones out of resin. I know some of these will have to be cut down, but thats easier then making them from scratch. More sanding and making pieces to fill the gaps. I also realized after looking at the photos that I forgot to stagger the lower holes, Oh well, I will figure that out soon.
  9. I am new here, but quickly learning that the generosity of this board is above and beyond anything I have experienced before. Awesome Chris and everyone else!
  10. Thanks guys. I am not 100% sure what I am doing, but sure am having fun with it. I have been working a little on this the last couple of days, filling, sanding and filing. Its starting to come back together. Started adding the new holes, they still need filing and smoothing out, but getting closer. I also filed down the barrel, I decided it would just be easier to remake all of the T track. I also have been working on the front site a little. Then I started patching the holes I made. Then I hollowed out the barrel. I know the real gun has a barrel that goes down the center. I'm not sure if the E-11 does, right now I just assume it is still in there. So anyway one will most likely be going in this one... I will most likely use a dowel rod, but drill it out to drop a little weight. Thanks for looking and commenting guys it is much appreciate. Especially if I am off track anywhere with this build.
  11. I have a DoopyDoos MK2 conversion in transite, but until then it was time to play with what I got. Everyone has seen these stock so I will skip ahead. First I hollowed out the rail, cut the scope up, gutted the interior, glued it back together and tested some paint. Then I started to modify the trigger guard. Then I cut the handle extension off the back. Then the back end fell off. So I had to glue that back on. Then the front fell off. So I had to glue that back on too. After that I put some filler on all the screw holes, filled the handle mesh and started to reshape the handle. I'm going to let the filler sit for a little while then get back on this. By no means is this going to be perfect, but should be a little closer to a E-11.
  12. HA HA. I actually just used a shrink ray on my garage. Thanks everyone for the compliments.
  13. Hello everyone! First post and I am very excited. So I received some pouches from ebay the other day that looked like this, minus the paint drips. I cut the small pouch off and reattached it, painted them black with Eco Flo black for leather. The I used 220 grit sand paper and Tamiya weathering kit A, sprinkled and rubbed it on to get in the seams and everywhere else. Plus I threw them around rubbed them on each other and this is what I got. For the time being I just filled them with cotton batting until I can cut some wood, find some foam or make something out of styrene. Let me know what you guys think and if I need to make any changes. Thanks for the help! -Ty
