  1. This past weekend I had an opportunity to put my Stormtrooper armor to good use and attend Star Wars Celebration Japan 08 in Tokyo. I was able to get free tickets and transportation courtesy of the Services division on base so we made it a family trip. It was 96 degrees with equal humdity...wearing the armor made for a long an HOT day. I was absolutely soaked within the first hour and was in the armor for about 8 hours. To say I lost some weight is a bit of an understatment. Wearing my armor was a thrill, but it resulted in me being constantly mobbed for pictures and therefor I didn't get to do as much of the con-stuff as I had hoped. Apparantly I was the "real deal" according to many Japanese SW fans; being 6'6" made it all the more impressive intimidating. I was really popular with the ladies, and was hugged, groped quite a bit...my wife somehow missed allot of those pics for some reason. Still it was allot of fun and the armor wore well and held up beautifully. The 501st showed up as well and there were some EXCELLENT fanmade/professional costumes...of which I don't have many pictures unfortunately. The highlight, besides spending an entire day with my family, was meeting and chatting with Anthony Forrest, the "Move Along" Sandtrooper. He could relate to my suffering and was kind enough to wave the rules and take several pics with me. Very nice guy and the only autograph I wanted. Yes, I realize I'm not a Sandtrooper...I want to convert my armor, but I can't bring myself to muck up my SDS TK...yet. Maybe after some more wear and tear. I thought since I met THE Sandtrooper, the post was relevent here. Hope you don't mind and enjoy the pics. Slideshow of my SWJ08 Pics I can cross "geeking-out at a Star Wars convention" of my to do list for now...at least until the next con. All in all a very fun (and hot) day with the family.
  2. Why should that concern me? I work with/for him. Besides, Vader only "did away with" those who failed repeatedly or spectacularly...or unless he was in a foul mood to begin with I suppose... (Captain Needa?)
  3. So I can look Lord Vader armored lens to armored lens. That's not a problem is it?
  4. Except for the fact that I want to be a Stormtrooper, not Vader. Also, how do you or what is the best way to mount the MP Ammo pouch to the upper chest/shoulder?
  5. Well, I did it. I bought a set of armor from Shepperton, and am very pleased with my initial test fitting. I figured I was going to have to mod a few peices as I'm 6'6". I think I should start by separating the ab-plate and "cod-peice" to give my self some manuevering room as well as raising the ab plate about 2 inches. Right now, If I stand up straight there is a gap between the chest and ab plate. On the back plate, there is about a 2 inch gap. If I wear my friends FX Chest and Back plate, there is no gap...so maybe I should buy a set of those? I'm thinking maybe some white elastic/spandex or pleather to "fill-in" some of the gaps? Here are some pics from my first test fitting These two illustrates the gap issue well: I have to pad the forearm amor as well to hold it in place better and reduce the "black" on the elbow. I can also get a longer strap to lower the bicep armor a bit. I wan't to get my armor to fit and wear right before I weather it. I realize my height makes a perfect fit impossible (without armor made for the tall troopers). Any tips you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated. Especially how to pad/strap the helmet so its comfortable and doesn't wobble! Thanks! HK-888
