  1. Kit arrived for my first build today. Trying to ignore my general lack of crafting skills as I nervously approach this project.
  2. Thanks Dave. Is kind of cool to have a name to go with the "face." If any of you would like to do the reverse in greater detail I was Sebastian's "canvas" for episode 4 flash challenge.
  3. Looks like a lot of fun. I am sure the kids enjoyed it too. My daughter got to shoot a nerf gun at a scout trooper at The Strong National Museum of Play this year. Of all of the the things she did, she kept talking about shooting the trooper all week, and when we saw the same guy a few weeks ago at the zoo she immediately asked if I thought he was the one she shot. Her continued excitement about that is a large part of why I looked into the 501st to begin with.
  4. Sorry. For me it is just kind of cool. I have just taken the first baby steps towards working on my own Sandy and then I realize that the 501st were filmed on the same show I was on several days after I was there. I just found that entertaining. More so, I imagine, than you folks do reading about it. XD
  5. It is a reality tv show on spike tv. Tattoo competition. The challenge on next week's episode was to paint clone trooper helmets that would later be auctioned off for charity.
  6. Of course now that you have given me the idea, when I get everything together to be able to start trooping myself I will have to talk to the guy that runs the MS pub crawl and MS bocce tourney etc...I am sure he will figure out how I.can be more helpful.
  7. I didn't mean to imply I was asking others to do more. I guess that was just a poorly worded acknowledgment of the help your presence certainly provided. I suppose a shorter version would have read: "On behalf of my family, thank you."
  8. This is great. My wife has MS so I am a bit partial to their events. I do their walk and the MS pub crawl every year but when I started looking into getting into trooping the MS society didn't occur to me as a charity that could be helped by the 501st.
  9. After having lurked here for a few weeks, toying with the idea of trying the T21 build while waiting to be able to work on my own kit, I watched the latest trailer for Inkmaster and see Storm Troopers on the screen. My eyes immediately went to the Sandy, and got to wondering, is that guy one of the folks I have been reading posts from over the last couple of weeks? Having been on this season of the show myself, it would be somewhat entertaining to be able to put a name to that "face."
  10. Another new person saying hello. My name is Steve. Have run across the 501st at several events with my daughter and seeing how much they make the kids happy in said events has lead me to start researching building my own storm trooper and helping the cause. Heavily leaning towards Sandtrooper. Being completely new to the whole process I will be scouring the posts here for information available, but feel free to chime in with any advice or questions.
