  1. I have the white pauldron with the sewn sections and I've folded it in to the center and I've also had my kids stomp on it just to break it in.
  2. Squeaky clean TKs are just paper pushers, TDs go out and get the job done!
  3. I spend a lot of time at FISD and I don't even have a TK. The standards for armor are near identical minus a different sniper plate, no thermal detonator, and obviously weathering & pack. I've built my TD to FISD's centurion standards. It's a great building block to start with. They also have a rather large community and no one cares that I'm dirty.
  4. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ Best list of vetted makers.
  5. Armor was swapped out and around a bunch for the sandies. Your best bet is to focus on one particular scene the best you can. Look at some SWAT submissions for the trooper you want to emulate and go with that.
  6. Any update on getting 501st access? Quite a few of us waiting
  7. Considering the people who have pre-ordered still haven't received their December update as of today, I would go with a different company. I would start looking at the Getting Started section at WhiteArmor.net and read some of the vetted vendors armor descriptions. I personally use MTK with AM thighs and shins.
  8. Love my trooper1 pauldron, just have to break it in so it stops pushing my helmet up.
  9. Yeah, I would trim it and create a new return edge with a sealing iron you can get at model/hobby stores. Awesome you got it for free, I'm just not a fan of FX.
  10. I put it towards the bottom but not far enough to stick out or be seen on the inner finishing strip.
  11. What armor maker is that? The kidney plate looks rather tall and not flush to the back piece.
  12. I got some industrial velcro and stuck one on the inside of the knee and I had to CA glue the other to the foam. Even though it had a sticky side, it would always stay attached to the other velcro and come off the foam. I wanted it to be removable because the type of foam I bought from JoAnn's allows it to be rinsed and is made for outdoor furniture. I'm a sweaty beast so this is a must.
  13. Finally got my approval this morning. TD-82573 reporting in!
  14. R. Jason Yap Requesting 501st/Sandtrooper access TD-82573 http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=20249 Thank you!
  15. If you double ply the elastic and sew it together it makes it much stronger and won't allow the shoulder bell to tug it as much. I just made a new set this weekend.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you need elastic shoulder straps for SWAT now. No more canvas.
  17. I believe TM is offering the SE sandtrooper kit. Also, the SE sandtrooper is used in the new Battlefront game.
  18. I haven't been a member here long enough but based on what I've been seeing, the wooden block looks like the more popular option. I will keep you in mind when I am in the market for a bapty though and look forward to your changes/improvements.
  19. I shimmed with ABS and bonded it together with ABS paste. Then I sanded it down to blend the piece together. WhiteArmor.net has a ton of tutorials on this if you need some examples.
