  1. After some noodling around with video editing and photoshop software I am 90% sure that the TD known as the "alley check" captain wears the same armor as both "stop that ship" and the "cantina captain." I'm still waiting to get a good bluray rip of ANH to look at the weathering of his helmet. I'm not quite convinced its the same bucket that is very viewable on STS. Here is my alley check research thread: Http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=11023&hl= Aloha, -Eric
  2. Ah so. Thanks guys. The forum permissions did not allow for non staff to download attachments. I'll go through today and audit perms for the rest of the forum areas. Aloha, -Eric
  3. Okey folks... I think maybe I found the permission problem... would a non staff member please try view the attachments in the first post and post here if it worked or not *fingers crossed* Aloha, -Eric
  4. Okey... I'm very close to putting the fasteners in my Alley Check Captain helmet and I want to get the brow right. I decided to focus my efforts on what I can see with a low res rip of the bluray (downloaded) and the DVD rip I made. Here's a very slow mo look at the helmet... slower mo than the first video I posted. You can download the 14 mb quicktime directly from here or look at the lower res youtube below. I suggest downloading the quicktime of course. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnUj-z73jNw Here is a photographic comparison of Stop that Ship and Alley check. STS is in red and Alley Check is in blue. Click on the image for a full sized version. This makes me think that both helmets are the same or similar in brow shape. And really that's all I care about right now before I start drilling holes in my helmet. I'm still trying to get my hands on a very very high res rip of the bluray to see if I can spot the joker frown. The more I look at the lower res movie screen captures the more I start to see a joker frown that may not be there. More on this later. Aloha, -Eric
  5. I changed the red circles to yellow stars for every 1000 posts. I'm still not satisfied... they may change eventually where the remaining stars are shaded grey so you know there is up to 10 of them. They're better than the red balls though. And a PRO (public relations officer) sounds like a fine idea. We have one on FISD who manages the newsletter creation, our facebook page, and twitter account. -Eric
  6. Ha no not like jarhead... like ocean... ocean robotics LOL
  7. Mucho Mahalos. Actually I'm a marine robotics guy and I have 5 tons of desiccant at work. I can prevent moisture at 3000 meters under the ocean but didn't think to apply any of that knowledge at home. The plumber's pipes are always leaky? Now to google a good way to clean the mold.... -Eric
  8. I basically live in a rainforest at 3100ft elevation. Cold, damp, and wet. More like Seattle weather than what most would consider tropical. My spanish pouches are getting moldy sitting out on a shelf in the open. Does anyone have a good way to clean and prevent mold from coming back on these leathert bad boys? Aloha and thanks, -Eric
  9. A fine choice! I think you'll really dig your ATA. In fact I'm sitting here carving teeth out of an ATA bucket a I type this. -Eric
  10. Ayup. Looks like the pacific outpost is going to have two sizes of this trooper since Nick has a deployed Cantina Captain getting read for SWAT. I have a helmet that is about to go together. It's trimmed but not assembled. I really want to get my hands on a bluray rip to zoom and enhance the bucket on this captain before I start painting/weathering. Thanks for all your help guys, -Eric
  11. Also... I uploaded the video but I suggest you download the file instead..... http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Nt2iP6gLVY
  12. I lost my mind tonight. Bigtime. I took my ANH DVD, ripped it into a 720p quicktime file and brought it into final cut. With the slowing, zooming and brightening effects I think I've determined that the alley check captain does have the same weathering as the Cantina and STS captains. Here is the movie I made. It is 100 mb and has slow mo and zooming of this captain. Here are some screen shots (click on an image to see it full size): The chest of that guy looks a lot like this dude right here: There's also a good shot in the video of the pack that shows the lab pipe clearly. Thoughts on the chest weathering? This clears nothing up about the helmet of course... which doesn't look to be very weathered at all. Nor does it show a joker frown or crack on the tube. Maybe once I get a bluray rip of the movie I'll be able to zoom in more betterer on the helmet details. -Eric
  13. The biggest issue I have with the current AM is the chest and back (and stay puft helmet obviously.) If you do end up getting an AM kit I would suggest modifying the back to be more screen accurate and replace the chest with an RT chest plate that doesn't have the (I'm sorry you great looking AM troopers) pointy madonna boobs. If you choose to use the AM chest and back I suggest using Pandatrooper's method to cut the shape to be more accurate. We at FISD recommend in the Centurion (our SWAT) CRL replacing AM chest/back and certainly require applicants to modify both for Centurion. Also... the AM shins don't go together correctly. Check out the FISD DL's tutorial for putting together the right way. If you do go AM please please please buy yourself an ATA helmet instead. And yes RT is more geared to the taller trooper where AM fits the wider trooper better. Aloha, -Eric
  14. As a proud owner of a RT TK and RT-MOD evangelist of course I say RT all the way. However, the newly sculpted AM is slated to look much much better.... But they haven't posted pics of the new helmet assembled or of anyone in a full set of armor. The jury is still out in spite of a promising preview. I'd give AM a few months to work out the kinks. RT-MOD is quite booked up and may not be taking orders. FYI Rob travels for work and may not respond for a few days. What's your waist size and inseam? You might be able to get into an ATA with side shims and pick up a set of RT or TM extra long shins. I'd say a 42 is about the max waist for an RT kit before the ab and kidney gap becomes unreasonable and in need of shimming. -Eric
  15. For every 1000 posts you now get a little dark red dot under your post count in your post profile thingy. There are dot slots for 10,000 posts. I haven't found stars I like yet. (I know the space is a little big between the number of posts and the dots... I'll work on that) Aloha, -Eric
  16. I poached this from another thread..... Doh. So does that mean that alley check captain has the skull weathering like STS and cantina captain... as well a joker frown helmet? -Eric
  17. **** Rolf. I've been trying to get a look at him for a few days via DVD but its always been so dark. That saves me a ton of time. I admit that I totally missed that detail in your first photo. This photo also shows a very heavily weathered pack. Was there only one pack #3? There also seems to be a short version of the lab pipe on the left side of this pack... looks shorter than packs 1,2,4 and 5. -Eric (FYI I'm renaming this thread and moving it somewhere else)
  18. Thanks Rolf. Now I'm on the hunt now for photographic evidence for 3 black trays and 1 blue. Do you know which tray is blue? The falcon takeoff captain clearly has move along weathering. I hope to also capture the alley check captain's weathering the best I can. Not an easy task. Thanks dudes, -Eric
  19. Oh that's interesting. Where is the evidence of the black seed trays? Is this pack seen on another trooper another time? If so I'll go grab caps from that scene too Sounds good to me. In the mean time I'm trying to find a way to rip the bluray so I can watch it on my mac for better screen shots of this trooper. In the mean time in playing with the brightness and exposure the cross cross electrical tape seems to be present on this pack making it the same as move along no? Would that then make the seed trays blue? (I hope so because that's how Rick built it) Click on the image for a full sized version. Aloha and thanks! -Eric
