  1. I love seeing armor builds. It's wonderful to see everything come together, and thank you for the endorsement of the backpack kit Mike! Dyops contacted me a few months ago, and now that his armor is almost finished, he'll be ordering a backpack kit. Deo will be ready to get dirty very soon! Charlie
  2. It appears to be a screw at the top of the toilet plunger on Gino's pack Whether or not that is what was actually used in the movie, only the prop department would know! Charlie
  3. Star Wars Celebration was a great time, and I had the opportunity to meet Gino while taking pictures of his backpack. I also met Woodman, and he mentioned the mushroom cap was actually the rubber end of a toilet plunger. Is this the real reason why the armor is so dirty? Charlie
  4. Your pack looks great! Very nice work putting it together! Charlie
  5. If you are at Celebration Orlando, then head over to the EFX booth and gaze with wide wonder upon the most beautiful, screen used, crappy helmet! It's here! And even better, there is a REAL Sonix Victory 75 radio on the Sandtrooper manequin near the Road Squadron! How do you know it's the real thing? The slightly bluish tinge to the gray color of the faceplate. The antenna cap has the cone shape just like the radio posted by BigRed. Look at the slots in the speaker grill - very difficult to create by casting in resin. The letters do not have any outline indicating a transfer from a clear decal sheet, or black from a stick-on adhesive print. The right side has a 5 pin DIN used to connect a tape deck. The left side has two audio connectors with the top one marked MIC and the lower marked EAR. Incredible! Does anyone know whose sandtrooper outfit is on display? Charlie
  6. I'm not sure which part you're talking about. Can you post a picture? Charlie
  7. Wow, nice work Jim! Great job assembling the backpack kit. I would recommend sanding down the vertical corners of the exhaust port. The plastic pinches together during the vacuum forming process, but with some filing or coarse grit sandpaper, you should be able to shave it down. Also on the seed trays, you should trim back the edge just a little more. The screen used ones were totally flat, which needed gaffer's tape to hold them together. I like just a little lip to keep them from sliding apart. Again, great work getting everything together, and your dewback prod looks good too! Charlie
  8. This is truly sad news. Roland ordered two of my backpack kits, and during his travels through the US, met me in Washington DC to pick them up. Although our meeting was brief, I could tell he was truly a kind and genuine person. My most sincere condolences to his family and friends. Charlie
  9. It's a good start, and as the Emperor has foreseen, it will only get better as your skills improve. Nice work! Charlie
  10. Wow, that looks great! Thanks for creating the design and sharing it with the Sandy Community! Charlie
  11. Recent photo analysis concluded they were old style capacitors, with a single lead coming out one end. Cipher offers a complete set here: Charlie
  12. Wow, that's some beautiful work with the Sandtrooper Backpack Kit Jérôme! I send out lots of kits all around the world, but it's not very often I get to see the finished product. I'm glad to hear you are happy with the kit and the instructions provided. The kit has evolved over the past 10 years, so if there's anything that could be improved, please let me know. I'll be working on gathering parts for Mike's kit this weekend, and if there are any other troopers that need a field backpack, please send me a message. Thanks! Charlie
  13. I've got your back(pack) Ken I've got plenty of parts in the garage to offer up kits, so if any other troopers need outfitting, just let me know! Charlie
  14. Hmm, with a name like Yooda2004, I suspect you may be a Rebel spy, looking to find out secret Imperial information regarding the backpack features, functions, and capabilities. Ok, I'll send you a message with the details Charlie
  15. Hooray, the Private Message section is working and displaying messages properly! Thank you ninja web admins - when it works right, nobody will even notice Charlie
  16. Hi Warren, With all of the advice above, you can't go wrong with any of the recommended suppliers, including me I've sent the details of my kit to you in a private message. Please let me know if you have any other questions, and good luck with your decision! Charlie
  17. Wow, great work Ben! You put in a lot of effort and it really shows in your finished outfit. Congratulations! Charlie
  18. Hi Dave, I just sent you a note with all of the information about my backpack kits. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Charlie
  19. Hi Bert, I offer backpack kits that give you almost everything you need to build a beautiful backpack at a very reasonable price I'll shoot you a message with all of the sordid details. Charlie
  20. Hi Cesar, Your blue is more like the Special Edition version of A New Hope released in 1997, and looks a lot like Humbrol 47. It must be very difficult to find spray paint in Venezuela, so I think you did a great job finding a close match! I prefer a bit more gray blended in, but you're looking good with your blue! Charlie
  21. Congratulations Jonathan! You were very diligent in getting all the details just right, and you've got a great looking rig! Watch out for folks in bathrobes waving at you. They're not friendlies! Charlie
  22. I've been having some weird behavior in the Messaging section of the forum. When I first go into Messenger, I do not see a list of my conversations on the left side: But if i open the drop down menu, select Sort By "Start Time" the conversations appear. Then I Sort By "Recently Updated" and I can see my most recent conversations. It's a little annoying, but the work around is not too painful Charlie
  23. Hi there Handsome Solo. I offer Sandtrooper Backpack Kits that require assembly. Some folks believe it is a rite of passage to build your backpack, just like assembling and fitting your armor Here's a photo gallery of everything that comes in my kit: http://tk386.com/sandtrooper_backpack_kit/ It's got all of the parts you need to build a great looking backpack, except you'll need to order the white toilet cistern valve from Gordonator. Please let me know if you are interested in a kit. Charlie
  24. Congratulations on the approval Kevin! Charlie
  25. The goal of SWAT is to be screen accurate, and match a trooper in a specific scene. If you've got photo evidence from the movie where items are missing, taped up, or broken, then that's what you've got to match! Curiously, there's no gaffers tape holding the bottom seed trays together, so this must have been very early when they were filming in Tunisia. Charlie (not on the SWAT approval committee )
