  1. Gets my dirty thumbs up Terry! Sandy hazing due post -ECCC '11.
  2. George coined 'Jedi' by twisting the Japanese term for period dramas, 'Jidai' which literally does mean 'period' or era dramas. They were usually samurai tv shows from the 50s and 60s not unlike U.S. westerns. Not a hard leap then from a sword swinging ronin with a warrior code, to a lightsaber bearing 'jedi' following the 'force'. Can't believe these guys thought they could piggyback on George's success without paying the legal price. The only thing they should've copied was his idea of coining their own term by corrupting another.
  3. I continue to be amazed by all the talent that makes MEPD the best det around. Good work guys!
  4. Weathering lookin good bro!
  5. Sharks have even dedicated a week to him...
  6. A very talented artist in my garrison was kind enough to do portraits of some of our members. Here's one she did of me though she admits some of the details may be off (she's a biker scout after all).
  7. Genius Terry! I'd like to redo my pack with all these new ideas. Finding the time is the real challenge.
  8. I'm glad its working out for the better Rolf. Any hurdles you run into can be overcome as long as you stay strong for your son which you've proven time and time again. Just remember too that Sylvester has a whole detachment of sandy godfathers (and some godmothers) with his best interests at heart. Hang in there bro,
  9. I know not everyone is a fan of velcro but that's what connects my bells to my shoulder straps going on 5 years without a hitch. Basically all I did was cut to shape some fuzzy-sided to fit under my shoulder straps. I then cut some of the hook-sided and attached it to the nylon strap running from each bell. Each strap simply just attaches under the shoulder strap with the fuzzy with enough room for adjustments. To attach my shoulder pouch, I fashioned a loop out of some leather scrap I had lying around and attached it the back of the pouch with snaps. The loop goes around my left shoulder bell strap to which I E6000'd a 2" black hips shim to keep the weight of the pouch from kinking it.
  10. Amazing photos and sad to hear about the lack of upkeep. One would think there would be some way to incent the local powers that be to maintain the place once they realize what potential the place has.
  11. You have a lovely family + 1 more my friend. Congrats!
  12. Huge thanks to Nol and the rest of the command staff for making this my favorite det in the legion. MEPD will always be my first love
  13. Now those are my kind of vacation photos. Gotta put this on my bucket list for sure ! Anyone put an MEPD sticker there yet?
  14. I trimmed some egg crate foam to line my lid primarily in the crown area and sides. Not the best choice because it does get warm. Those are velcroed in just in case I decide to upgrade and like TD-1535, I got (duct) tape in some places but mostly to hold wires in place. Lenses and frown are hot glued in. Some day I'd like to do a proper pimp-out but so far works just fine.
  15. Happy Birthday Nol! Hope its dirty
  16. Life is strange Rolf and I'm really sorry to hear what's happened to your young family. For some people parenthood is the most daunting task they'll ever face and only realize too late that they're not cut out for it. The one who suffers of course is the child especially if that parent leaves. And yes, bonding with your son is more important than ever now; we're all MEPD bros here but in my world, armor and legion activities take a backseat to engaging with my kids. It could be something as simple as a game of catch, building kits together, or going camping. The dividends far outweigh any investment in time to my own pursuits and your life is actually enriched by their presence. Providing them a happy childhood as a loving parent is the most important thing in the world to me now and I wouldn't have it any other way. If you're ever in the Seattle area, just LMK. Maybe you could hook up with me and Daetrin. Cheers.
  17. I was 12 and waited in line forever with tons of other families with antsy kids. Was living in Honolulu at the time and saw it at a shopping center near Waikiki.
  18. I almost always wear mine and feel kind of awkward without it frankly, though it is more comfortable without. Now if the troop was going to be in a narrow area, say a comic store or someplace where the risk of knocking things off shelves was high, then I'd maybe not wear it. Its always a good idea to know your 'turning radius' too so you don't bump into someone or something. Another instance is if its a long troop, then towards the end I may troop without it to give my back a respite.
  19. Thanks for the trip down memory lane Paul. Boy, I have to say the FX lid is like the armor equivalent of seeing a mullet-do in your high school yearbook: looked cool at the time before one knew better. Always great to see Guns anytime.
  20. Hands down, one of the best weathered packs I seen.
  21. So the pauldrons were actually painted?
