  1. Mike, Thanks for all of your help with the sandtrooper stuff. The guys over at the Sith Lord detachment have been helpful as well. I've already got a good lead on a bucket. This is exactly why I'm doing it! I've always been a little big for a trooper in my opinion. For the most part I looked okay, but even when I lose my gut, I still won't look like a trooper from the movie. I'm just particular about things like that. My body style fits Vader much better.
  2. Troops, The allure of a Darth Vader costume has taken me over completely. I must obey my master and complete this task. This means that I must sell my armor, unfinished backpack and my unfinished resin MG-34. Don't get me wrong, I've always loved being a stormtrooper. Here in east central Illinois we really need a Vader. I've always been a little tall for a trooper, but this is good for Vader. Besides, my first Star Wars costume was Vader, so it only makes sense. Circle is now complete and all that. This picture is probably from 1979. Don Post helmet and cardboard armor. The costume was made by my grandmother. Anyway, I'll be selling my sandie stuff and you guys will get the first chance at it. I even have a couple of Marmit sandtroopers for sale. More on that later. Here are my For Sale posts: http://www.mepd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1711 - backpack frame and parts http://www.mepd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=18187#18187 - MDK radio box http://www.mepd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=18194#18194 - MP40 pouches
  3. Thanks. Yes, it is the MDK radio box. I also used: - Seth main boxes - tupperware pitcher lid - tupperware desert cups - Alvin Ice Tube (trimmed down to 2.5 inches) - Spray paint caps modified for the mortar tube - Wet Ones bottles - tupperware bread keeper - Two Way backpack frame - Walmart cups The small tube is made from a piece of plumbing and a piece of a Hasbro Darth Maul lightsaber blade. My son broke his DM saber and it fit into the plumbing tube nearly perfect. Attached above the tube is a little storage cup that I got at a dollar store. The cups come in packs of six and I bought it at a store called "Deals". It's not real accurate, but it will do until I get something better. I need a dome for the Walmart cups and I need something for the "scoop" that attaches to the bellows (Walmart cups). I also need to find a tupperware pitcher for the piece under the pack shelf. Once I get the parts, I'm sure it won't take long to assemble. As you all know, finding the parts takes time. If it takes me longer to build this pack, I don't mind. I really want it to resemble the screen version pack.
  4. What do you think? I want to bend the frame and shorten the top tupperware box. The "bellows" piece is made from some plastic cups from Walmart stacked together. The mortar tube caps are spray paint can caps. I cut them down to an inch and then I used my heat gun to make them concave. I haven't really attached anything together yet. I might hinge the boxes like others have done. I'm hoping to have this ready by Halloween.
  5. Troops, Unfortunately the bread keeper is too thin. I'm going to use it anyway because it's very close. I think I might shorten the length of the box to make it look better. I'll keep looking.
  6. I'm back from vacation and the Tupperware container was delivered to work. I'll have to wait until Monday to take a look at it.
  7. I don't have the piece yet. When I get it, I'll see about a number and let everyone know.
  8. Actually, I bought the Stow N Go by mistake. I originally planned on making the Move Along pack. Once I realized what happened, I figured I could just make a different pack. Now that I'm getting the bread keeper, I'm back to making the Move Along version. That one was always my favorite anyway. I'm going to hold on to the Stow N Go for now. Just in case.
  9. Troops, Take a look. This is a Tupperware bread/loaf keeper. I've even seen it called a pound cake keeper. I'm bidding on one of these right now. Yes, I posted to the ebay auction thread. The measurements on this are: 9.5" X 5" and it's 5.5" tall. I'm not exactly sure if it's the one used for the pack, but it looks pretty close. I've been talking with Mike (1536) about it and he agrees with me. I have the Seth main boxes and once I get it, I'll post pictures for comparison.
  10. I agree, but I just didn't know how practical that would be while in armor. I'm new to the sandie stuff, so please bear with me. Any extra storage is good. I may hinge my top box also.
  11. Where can I get the button panel for the mortar tube?
  12. Is your new frame an existing backpack or was it custom made? If it's existing, what kind is it? Thanks.
  13. Look here: http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/davin/re ... -storm.htm (scroll down) this shows a pretty good picture. Still hard to tell what the strap really is. Thanks to the Davin Felth website.
