  1. Being sandtroopers some of the first characters for the 501st, some of the basic level CRL is based on what was standard at the time, more than 12 years ago. Due to that, the CRL is not based on screen accuracy but in making it look easily identifiable. We have had upgrades but some basic rules stay. As the shoulder pouch with or without pack. Then the PO CRL strives towards unifying the looks. The whole program was thought to make sandtroopers look better and more consistent with movie looks. Then comes the swat program shooting for strict screen accuracy up to the last detail on the looks. So yes, we could change the level 1 CRL and probably will someday. But accuracy is not its goal. Just keep that in mind. White armor Crls try to make it fairly accurate but more like unifying the looks. It is a polemic topic no doubt. Other characters are way more accurate in the basic level. Why? Don't really understand. But we will get there some day. That's for sure. Anyway, why stay level 1? We are here to achieve better armor. So start 1, the go 2 and 3!!! Saludos.
  2. Hey there bro! @Baji Welcome to the MEPD. Hope you find everything you need here and soon be a Sandtrooper. The link of your pouch takes me to the site not the pouch. Could you post a new link or pict for review. Thx. @Sander Nice pouches. Where did you get them from? The stolla Wien looks awesome. Would need a little modification on the flaps for swat. But nothing difficult or dramatic. Nice! @simmonsbaretta Hi there! Yes. The one with the small tool pouch would go on the pack's shoulder strap. The other one, well, it's not really used on screen so it won't take you further than level 3. That's something we all go through. Buying a set when just needing one. Saludos!!!
  3. Looking good bro. Keep it up!' Saludos.
  4. Hi! And welcome to the MEPD. In order to achieve any of the MEPD levels, you first need to get cleared by your GML as a Sandtrooper. For that, you just need to meet the Legion level requirements on the CRL. Once done that, you can submit your request for PO level, meeting of course the Level 2 (police officer) requirements on the CRL. You can get cleared for level 1 with no weapon and pack. But will need them for PO. Then, if you chose this specific trooper, need to replicate it to achieve the swat badge / level 3 clearance on the CRL. You can get this with no pack. But I am afraid you will need it anyway for PO. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Saludos. Juan.
  5. Looking good bro. Weathering is a tricky thing. But there is no rule that pushes you into making a screen accurate look for approval. You can go any way you want... At least for 501t entry level... Here is what the CRL sets for weathering. 29.DIRT: Dirt, accomplished by a number of painting techniques. Most common & accurate being a multi-layer treatment of either tempera, or matte acrylic paint, followed by one or more layers of fuller’s earth. Other methods include, but are not limited to; Spray paint & sanding (usually multi-layered), application of sand or actual dirt in place of “Fuller’s earth” and other types of dust, charcoal, etc. Now, for Police Officer, that is another story... for this level you would need: appropriate weathering and does not contain excessive stylization Finally, for SWAT, you would definitely need a screen accurate weathering, replicated to resemblance as close as possible the patterns of a Screen Sandtrooper. Weathering should be easily identifiable as the chosen trooper by comparison. Too little or too much weathering will not be allowed. Anyway, dont let anyone tell you what your Sandtrooper should look like to make you happy. If you want to be different among the different group, Go for it. Armor is supposed to make you happy, not everyone around you. So if that is the way you want to look, do it. If your dreams and likes brings you to PO or SWAT programs, well, go for it and rework your weathering. But neither is better than the others, or a must for you to enjoy being a Sandtrooper. I think your armor looks great, impressive and unique. The weathering gives it a lot of character. And being a Sandtrooper is just that in a big part. So... pay no attention to haters. If you need any more advice or even an opinion to get you cleared by your GML, come here and look for help. Rick and Mike could drop a word or two for you over the GML forum, if weathering were the only thing keeping you from clearance. Hope that helps... Saludos...
  6. No bro... unfortunately white elastic to close the seams is not approvable, not for PO or SWAT at least. Not 100% on basic entrance level, that would be up to your GML . But, I would not recommend it. One possible way is as suggested, to get the kidney plate from AM armor, and use the ab plate you already have. TM armor is way more accurate than AM, but the kidney is a smallish detail to have un-accurate compared to the rest of the parts... The other, as said too, is to shim it. This might be a bit more difficult and slower than just changing the part. But, it is a popular alternative if you want to keep your original part. Either way, if done correctly, should be no prob for level 2 and 3 clearance. Saludos.
  7. Nice! Didn't like the first one too much. But really enjoyed the second one... I could see the end coming, but it felt perfect when he waved the hand. Very nice story! And I like a lot the cinematography tricks! No big VFX needed to tell a story, just a good idea, vision and heart! Saludos
  8. Hey Roger! You are into something bid for sure bro! Keep it going! And if you need any help or advice, just ask. Your helmet is already looking good. And the pull looks awesome. WTF is great armor. Walt know his stuff! Post pictures and keep us posted on your progress!! sooner than later you will be posting your SWAT submission. Saludos.
  9. WOW! Great start!! The boots look great! What kind of paint is that? I have a pair of vintage chelsea boots waiting for me to paint them white. But have not decided how to do it yet. And, are you saying you found the counters on a flea marker? Thats lucky. All I can find in a flea market is garbage and old kitchen utensils. I did find a WC syphon on a WC tank on the streets of London, but that was just luck! Keep it coming and post more pictures. Saludos.
  10. I don't think I needed it for my SWAT configuration, but now wear it on every troop. I feel it makes it more comfortable and secures my shins so the clamshell does not open. And I think it adds reality to the armor. I also wear the black gaffers tape under the pauldron, and lots of white gaffers tape to repair the cracks on the armor. Just like real on stage armor... I also added it to my TK armor, since it is supposed to be build "Prop Forgery" style... Been working on it for 4 years now and still need some more work. But someday. Anyway... Got my white and black gaffer's tape from ebay. Real for film making! If you can add it to your build, do it!!! I just makes it more authentic. Saludos...
  11. Just be careful... and try to visualice what you want to achieve. Many discoveries have been made regarding backpacks in the past 2 years, but we dont have a definite proof on many things yet. That pvc frame and shape is based on eyeballing references. Even the angle is just an educated guess. But there has not been a proof found that definetely supports the idea of the bended frame. Not like that anyway. But... also, as we can see that the trays in a few packs are angled, we should consider to achieve such angle one way or another. Regarding the height of the frame, unless you want to go the über accurate found part built, consider the height of your seedtrays and where you want to place them to achieve the look you are aiming for. Cause the height of the pack will be useless unless your trays fit that measurement. Hope this helps more than it is confusing. I am in the process of building a new pack too at the moment. Still need to get the accurate packs to fit my Karrimore Tote'em frame, and the radio of course! Saludos.
  12. I think I can not even remember when or how was it that I got so dirty. But I do remember why? Being the elite of the troops, we Sandtroopers are the most able personal to bring smiles to children and adults all around the Empire. I got dirty cause I wanted to be part of that... And... It worked. My last trooped, I got some more dirt on my armor by trooping side by side with my 5yo daughter... and, she got dirty just the same way, by making other people smile, but most of all, by making me SMILE with joy and pride inside my bucket... Here is a proof of that... Saludos
  13. Hey Bro. Welcome to the MEPD. One thing to comsider is you dont need cloth shoulder straps. But simple white elastic ones, as the ones used under the plastic bridges on the TKs... Keep us oosted on your progress... And ask as many questions as you need... Saludos.
  14. Nice! Can't wait to see you as a SWAT trooper!!! Way to go sis! Saludos
  15. That is the so called French Pouch. It is not the Spanish pouch. And sadly, it is not accepted for either PO or SWAT. If you are looking for small Spanish pouches. Checkout eBay for the real deal. They are mouser pouches. Small box like black leather pouches. You can check them out on Rolf's post on this thread. Saludos
  16. So, bros, Just talked to Luis and he told me he has no computer access till maybe the end of the week, and has been toped with work over that. We will deal with it, asking Rodrigo for support here. Either Luis, Rodrigo or myself, will post updates here soon... Saludos
  17. Ill let Luis know about you guys. Chances are that he is doing them already, but life can get in the way... He'll chime in soon I am sure. Saludos.
  18. Looking really good bro! It should be easy and painless! Saludos
  19. Glad to help... If you need anything else, dont hesitate asking or even, messaging me. Saludos.
  20. One thing bro. Make it angled, not just prominent to the front. Meaning that the bottom of tmhe diamond, the little triangle should be touching the shin, and ghe top, projected to the front. That way, the top will be far from the bottom pf the thigh. Its not a very difficult mod, just need to remove and glue again, with some plastic added. Hope that makes sense. Saludos
  21. Hey bro... Just went though all your thread over the FISD and have to day, you did the right thing going sandy!!! Welcome bro... LOL. About the knee plate, just put some more spacers to make it more angled towards the front. As long as it doesnt look weird, you sre good to go. This is a common issue for mamy troopers, so, dont worry much about making it too proyected to the front. Just make it work for you. Saludos
  22. Hye Scott, welcome to the MEPD... Here you will find all the info and advice you need to become a sandtrooper. Yes! We are way cooler than those shiny TKs! It seems to me that you have some sort of FX armor recast there. It is an older version, but it can be made to meet standards with a few mods. My first sugestion would be to open a new thread and ppst poctures of your kit to have a better assesment. And my first advice would be to read as much as you can. Ask as manys questions as you need... And read some more. We will help you get where you want to be. Saludos.
  23. No worries Joel... And we are trying behind scenes to make it as clear as possible for everyone. We are here for the MEPD community first, and we work for that. Saludos
  24. Hey Joel, how are you bro. Just wanted to drop a line here... about this whole issue. There are pros and cos that have been brought to our attention here. Rest assure, we are working to make this work for all of our members, in benefit of the MEPD community. You are of course entitled of your opinion bro. And it is your prerogative to either join and follow the MEPD, the T76 group, or both. We want you to have the best experience on this community, forum and site. And we wont interfere if one or all members chose to accept the invitation from any external group. But, in that same stance, other people are entitled of their own opinion, and if they choose to persue the T76 reward scheme, they should be able to do it, without any judgment from other members. What no one is allowed to and will not be allowed is flaming, or attacking other members. Concepts as "dubious approval", is a personal assessment. And even if you are allowed and entitled to express your opinion, I really want to make it clear that attacking other members is not allowed in this forum. Please keep it constructive and friendly. I don't see a reason for a warning or modding out any comments here, but this is a warning for everybody to keep it constructive. Respect for other members is one of the keystones of this community. It doesnt matter if the other member is a newbie, an oldtimer, or is running another fan page. Respect, welcoming attitude and brotherhood is what makes the MEPD so different and special. Saludos.
