  1. THX for sharing... This is what this community is about! Saludos.
  2. I don't use it atm. I went full accurate assembly and replicating a few years ago and fans just don't meet the concept. I used to have them anyway afew years ago, or more than a few, I used computer fans powered with 1 9V battery each. To be honest, they served well for a while, but after getting used to the armor and helmet, I just didn't need them. I can see needing them if trooping without removing the helmet for a few hours straight or in very hot conditions, but that doesn't happen very often to me. Anyway, I do think that it is a little mod that does make the costume less uncomfortable, its just I'm a replica kind of guy. Saludos.
  3. Looks fine I guess... I think I would modify it a bit to make it more accurate. It is cheaper than the Sterling, if this were easy to disassemble, it could be a good alternative to buying a real sterling... I would change the T track ad a real scope and counter and maybe mod it to be bapty... but, would it be worth it? For a working airsof weapon? Dont know. Maybe yes... Saludos.
  4. Great work! It is always exciting to see these things happening here!! This is a great community with an amazing amount of talent and the right attitude towards sharing and collaborating...
  5. Noted Boss! Brad! Thx for all the hard work and time you have put into our community during all this years. You will be missed as part of the command staff and as an active member here, but I am sure we will remain friends. Hope that you chime in from time to time anyway! Thx my friend... and all the best for your new adventures!! Saludos.
  6. It's a nice first step!! I am sure you (We all) will eventually take it to where it needs to be. Great work bro! Saludos
  7. Great job bros! Great newsletter. Thx for making it happen. Saludos.
  8. Interesting. And... this had to happen sometime. It is time to expand the jurisdiction of the MEPD farther than Mos Eisley. I have a couple of books with imagies from R1 and I think there is a picture of the packs. Ill look for it and post it later. This is exciting! Saludos.
  9. Hey Paul!!! Good to see you back here! Lots of new guys and lots of veterans too. But still the same spirit and sense of community. Indeed there are many plans for 2017. I am too eager to see what this years brings us and excited about seeing the FISD and MEPD leading all what's cool in our hobby. Bienvenido again bro Saludos. Juan
  10. Even if you can't see the pack itself you can easily know if the pack that trooper uses is the one with tape or not by checking out the shoulder pouch. The pack with black tape is the only one with the canvas ammo pouch on the shoulder. All other have leather. Now, that can point the version of the pack. But the tape was added prior to filming the move along scene on tatooine. Can't remember now of the cantina was shot before or after that. Might me after in London just as the alley scene. Maybe someone else knows. Hope that helped. Saludos.
  11. Very interesting. 3D printing is just to amazing for me! I can't believe where it has come to... Great work. Keep us posted on your progress. Saludos
  12. Nice! Weathering is my fav part of prop building... Saludos.
  13. Hey Everybody! So... a new cycle has started for the MEPD under a new DL and a new energy is flowing among the detachment. This sounds to me like a great opportunity to start working again in my delayed projects awaiting on the work bench. I will be building, upgrading and finishing various projects, including new weathering and adding my real hegnstler counter to my E11, finishing building my ANOVOS armor, finishing my TK replica armor, building my Gino and TM buckets, and... upgrading my T21 BFG! For that, I will be adding the ribbing engraving to the barrel using nylon thread, adding greeblies, upgrading some details, adding blue wire and finishing the weathering and ageing. So... this is where I started: This was a commission to a local artist/sculptor/prop builder... From there, I added the slings and into my first troop with it. But I was never really happy with it. The size, shape and diameter of the barrel, specially at the end, was not what I expected. So I modified it to make it more similar in shape to a real gun. I also added some parts inside the barrel and on other places... Unfortunately, I can't find a picture of the mods or the process. Then, I also added weathered it and added the elastic plastic cord, and proceded to make further upgrades. Now, I finally started the process to fully finish it. This is when I first took some parts off it: And this is how it is going atm. I do have one doubt, and if anyone has any idea, it will be more than welcome: How do you guys attached the greeblies over the nylon thread so that the screws do not cut it and ruin the whole work? Will try to work on this, even if slowly, to finish it soon. Progress will be shared and pictures posted. Saludos.
  14. This looks like a great TEAM!! Thx for the opportunity to keep serving my brothers and our community! We will make this year a great one for the MEPD! Saludos.
  15. Here is what I promised!! Hope this helps
  16. I was thinking the same, use the original karrimor straps. Can't find a good enough reference... but why would the art department t take them off just to add another different set? I am actually a bit surprised you are asking about it. Hehe. Would have though that you would already have a good reference or accurate info! So, what are your ideas or theories regarding this?
  17. I have one. I'll try to get it from the storage and give you measurements today or tomorrow. Saludos.
  18. You are on your way and looking good bro! Thats what counts. I've been trying to properly finish my TK armor. Been going for 5 years now. It took me 6 years to get my TD armor up to what I wanted, so not bad at all... And still have on the working bench a new TD armor, 3 buckets, properly finish my E11 and my T21... So, no pressure bro... Take your time and move forward. And post pictures. Saludos.
  19. Yes... that would be cool. I might be able to start writing a CRL for the RMQ sandtrooper. But, we need to get the SE TD and the R1 Sandtrooper TD CRL's first... If you are willing to, maybe we can collaborate, share ideas and draft a CRL. Even if it goes slowly, I would be happy to work on this. I will bring the topic to the CS as well. Let me know... Saludos Juan
  20. This topic goes on and on... hehehe! Today, my second armor is a TK ANH replica based on the Tantive IV troopers. I'm also working in a new TD armor from an ANOVOS kit to make it a replica. Been saying for a few years that I would love to build a McQuarrie concept Sandtrooper... But now, I really like the looks of the Shoretroopers, even if I wont be building a full armor ever, I might get the bucket and build it. Other armors that I like are the Snowtrooper and ESB Boba Fett. But, I don't see me ever building them either. Saludos
  21. You must post some picts when you are done! Sand and weathering rule! Saludos
  22. My friend! I never thought this day would come so fast. You have been a great leader for our community, always willing to help us and push us further, trying to make this the best community out there. But most of all, you have always been a great friend! And for all that, I thank you! Seems so long ago and at the same time just yesterday that we joined forces with a few other troopers to try to bring this place to life again. Under Blueys command we started something big, but the moment you took over, it just exploded... it went from big to huge. Not just size wise, but in so many ways that it is hard to imagine how this detachment was just a few years ago. Thx for your help, time, energy and all kind of resources. Thx for being generous with everything you had in hand, and many times, with what you didnt have but wanted to share anyway. Thx for your friendship and for being a friend to us all. You will be missed as our leader, but I have no doubt you will stay here as a brother and as a friend. Here in our Sandy brotherhood, and in our hearts! Muchas gracias amigo! Juan
