  1. He He... Hi Smitty! They do actually. With bits of SDS, TE, etc. I took a little bit from everything. Lotsa room for fans and other electronics. Maybe even an a/c. Trooping can be quite toasty I hear. I was going for accuracy where it wont interfere with comfort or convenience. I was using a mobile phone camera here. Lens distotion. The picture of the black helmet is a more accurate representation. They came from the same mold. I think the sculpt is a bit long in the nosebridge and snout area generally. They're made of fiberglass reinforced resin. Breaks down into 5 pieces. Wont tear. Tough as a motorbike helmet. Not as heavy though. I tossed one up in the air as hard as I could to test it (maybe I'll shoot a video and post it just for kicks). It came down, bounced, rolled around. Didnt break. Lost of scratches, umm weathering. This was before the 2 layers of primer, 2 layers of polyurethane car paint and 2 layers of polyurethane top coat clear. I will be making the adjustments to make it as screen-used accurate as possible, eventually. This was actually an experiment in patience. It stopped being fun. So now I am making clone armor. Then trooper armor. http://www.clone-empire.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=911 Please feel free to tell me what you think will make it more accurate. Peace brothers. OT: You reminded me that I also want to build a full scale ED209 (after I build R2 of course... and clones, and trooper armor and the tumbler). Thanks. Going to park it in the garage. It will have motion sensors, articulation and sounds. Scare the neighborhood dogs. = ) For really pesky critters.... Motion Tracking and dual 3mm airsoft with boxmags. "You have 10 seconds to vacate the premises or I am authorized to pepper you with plastic! ROAR!"
  2. Greetings brothers and sisters. A while back I promised to post pix of my scratch build helmets so here goes. Peace.
  3. Greetings brothers I'm getting ready to assemble my sandy helmet and start on the painting process. I would just like to get some tips on how a proper sandy bucket should look attitude-wise. Is it High brow? Curved brow? High level brow? I understand that it has to do with the brow trim shape and the tilt of the cap. How is this done? Trim the front forehead part of the cap? Please correct me if I am wrong. I'm pretty sure that some of you have got this aspect down to a science. I've looked around I have got a lot of pics for reference but I would like to get your opinions. I can see from a lot of the avatars and pics here the direction to take. I just want to be sure before I start hacking away at the resin. Yes this is just an excuse to get a peek at your awesome buckets. I'm sure you understand Peace.
  4. Awesome weathering dude! I hope my bucket turns out just as well as yours did.
  5. Ha ha! I woke up with a geat idea. It was so bleeding obvious but great none the less. Secure chin strap with the screws that hold the ears to the helmet.... Stunned silence as I basked in my own ingenuity. Now my bucket turns will turn with my head. Even for those quick double takes. Hows that for quick service from the MEPD? Have a great day gents.
  6. Greetings folks. I would like to get you recommendations on a method of attaching a chin strap and other luxuries into the helmet? Hot tub? Mini bar? Here are pix of my bucket. Its made of fiberglass. http://bowrider69.multiply.com/journal/ ... gress_Pics Thanks for your help. PS. Still learning to how to post pix. = ) Did what was here: http://www.mepd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3426 but it didn't work for me. I'm sure it's my error. Thanks for bearing with me.
  7. Hi everyone! My name is Dexter, thanks for letting me join your awesome forum. = ) I have a helmet thats almost assembled. Soon I am going to sandify the heck out of it. Then I'm going to build me some armor, a backpack, big long blaster, etc... etc... so far all I have are a few half built helmets in varying stages of assembly. Cant have too many buckets. What if there's a fire? = ) I am a video editor and visual effects producer. Happily married. 1 daughter. Thanks for all the tutorials, links and progress pix in the forum. They provide tremendous help and inspiration. Now I am off to learn how to post pix in this forum properly... Later gents. Peace.
